The Bagel Deli — Restaurant in Denver

The food is fine. It's a good bagel. Service is awful. Seem to be disorganized at the register. Not the woman who actually helped me but just in general behind the register. I ordered two bagel sandwiches with cheese. And a coffee. While waiting for my order, someone else after me ordered a coffee with their sandwich. Got the coffee immediately. I didn't. When my order was ready I had to ask for the coffee. Then when I walked the distance of almost 30 Gates, my sandwich didn't have any cheese. I walk the distance back which is probably close to a quarter of a mile and when told them what happened he wanted to give me a cold slice of cheese. I had to insist to get a fresh new sandwich. When I returned the quarter of a mile back to where my gate was I opened it up to find to my surprise, although not disappointed, I had two bagel tops for my sandwich. Come to find out my wife also had two bagel tops. I would not be happy if I was the person who got two bagel bottoms which tend to of course have less seeds. Check your order carefully before leaving...

I had a frustrating experience this morning. I just a bagel with lots of cream cheese and asked for it to be double toasted. My wife and I sat down to eat near our departure date away when I opened up and discovered that they have been toasted at all. That’s not really a big deal, it’s a little frustrating but mistakes happen, my frustration came when I back across the airport to request that they remake it because that’s a pretty expensive bagel and when I gave them the intact bagel, the guy I was speaking with wanted the receipt. I hadn’t asked for a receipt when I got it so I couldn’t produce it, but I could produce the entire damn bagel and I did. I didn’t want a refund, I just wanted it fixed and it was weird and uncomfortable that the person behind the counter was pushing back so hard on that until the person who rang me up originally interceded, found my order in the computer, and showed him that it had been entered the way I had ordered.

I was excited to see that this deli is the only spot in the Denver airport (terminal A) offering vegan cream cheese - but what a letdown. Unfortunately, none of their actual bagels are vegan. I went out of my way to grab a vegan bagel from another vendor in the terminal and came back hoping to just purchase cream cheese, but they flat-out refused to sell it to me unless I bought their (non-vegan) bagel too. When I tried to explain, the staff was incredibly rude about it.

It’s baffling to offer vegan cream cheese but not a single vegan bagel - and then to make it impossible for travelers with dietary needs to actually enjoy it. Denver airport is big enough to do better for plant-based eaters, and I really hope the Bagel Deli rethinks both their menu options and their...
