Stopped in to grab a drink after a draining weekend saying goodbye to my dying grandmother followed by a late night cancelled flight. A bar staff member was very unkind when approached with a question that I was told was not theirs to address. I understand everyone has a job to do and it may indeed be outside their role and responsibility. I understand I may have been more sensitive to the approach given the events in my personal life. Neither of these should make it permissible to be treated poorly. General disregard and disrespect for the experience of another human is a different topic altogether. Would not recommend and will not return.
Follow up: After taking time to look through other posts to gauge whether I may be overreacting or to consider whether the bar staff I was disrespected by may simply be having a bad day themselves, I came across a number of negative reviews mostly discussing being treated poorly and often referencing bar staff. In particular, people felt so wronged and concerned for the treatment others may receive that there are multiple photos of the same bar staff I was treated poorly by. This follow up is not to condemn that person. Yes, they are guilty of not just poor customer service but actually poor treatment of fellow humans but the bigger entity is what needs to be addressed. The greater management responsible for considering the input and human experiences of its customers has allowed this treatment to persist and whatever kind of internal dynamics lead to someone being so disgruntled that they have a pattern of treating well-intended people poorly. Expect continued poor treatment so long as the conditions that create it and allow it to continue remain...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked in, Monique at the bar was snappy and rude with each customer and she completely ruined the experience for us. I’m sorry that she hates her job but she shouldn’t be taking it out on the customers and arguing with her coworkers right in front of everyone. No one is forcing you to work there, Monique. From the moment we walked in she says “you guys can’t just walk in, you need to check with the host” after we just got done waiting 20 minutes to be let in. She had to go talk with the host to verify that he let us in before finally taking our word for it and letting us sit at the bar. She then says “I need to see your IDs before you can sit here” and upon pulling out our IDs, she says “I can’t read those, I have to clean the bar top first”. I just decided to leave my ID on the bar top so she can read it when convenient. Keep in mind this was at almost 9pm and the bar was very slow. Throughout our meal, she did not check on us, did not offer more to drink and I guess she got frustrated that my ID was still sitting on the bar top half way through our meal so she slid it so hard that it landed on the floor behind me. She walked off like she didn’t didn’t even notice. We did not tip because she honestly did absolutely nothing to help us but we happily gave a generous tip to the server that was working in a different section who brought us our food while it was still hot. The host also came to check on us while we were eating and the food was good but overpriced, as is all airport/hotel food. If you have an extra $100 to spend on two hamburgers and a drink, and are lucky enough to not deal with Monique, then this...
Read moreA stain on Westin.
Food and drinks were ok. Basic overpriced airport variety, but surprisingly mediocre standards for being a part of the Westin.
Service however, was HORRIBLE. I arrived in the evening during a layover, planning to meet family here who live in Denver. After a short reunion we came into the establishment and asked if we could sit outside, the waitress yelled at us that no one is allowed to sit out there.... BUT the waitresses friends were actively being served in the outside seating area. We sat inside and tried to move past the rude server to enjoy a little family time. When she took the drink orders, my 60 year old father asked for a cocktail, she demanded an ID, which he had left in the car. She refused to serve him and openly yelled at us that without an ID she would not serve him, and for some reason thought to make the point that even her 90 year old mother is required to show an ID for a drink. We showed our IDs and ordered ours. From here the mood soured moreso. The waitress's mood did not improve, she came back twice more only to offer sly and non-subtle judgemental looks and quips. This waitress was trigger happy and on edge, we couldn't get out fast enough. You work in the service industry, ma'am, have fun berating your customers.
You earned a $0 tip, 1 star review, and I highly recommend avoiding this establishment when visiting the Denver airport,...
