Located in the heart of downtown Denville, Carvers is a great spot for breakfast that you can find it on 1st Street between Diamond Spring Road and Broadway. My visit to Carver's was on a Saturday morning around 9:30. I'm guessing my timing was perfect in that there was one other party in front of us with a wait of about 10-15 minutes. After we arrived, the crowds picked up as there were more people waiting to get in. While lines are often annoying, usually when it comes to waiting for food, it is a good sign the food is going to be great so you overlook the lines. Whenever I'm going out for breakfast, one of my key criterias is how quick I get my cop of coffee and Carvers gets an A +. The menu had many options making it difficult to choose. I picked the Chorizo Portuguese Sausage & Eggs (diced chorizo scrambled together with eggs and served with seasoned home fries and choice of homemade toast.) Also served was the French toast and Bacon. Meals were served hot and fresh and there was more than enough food to keep us powered though the day. Our coffee was topped off during out meal which always brings a high score in my book. A huge thanks to the entire staff who teamwork made for a great meal and all those who mentioned Carver's. For those who keep putting off this visit, you are missing out and need to pay them that long overdue visit.

My mother lives nearby and raves about Carver's so it was our first choice for pancakes this morning. The interior is small but very cozy, and they were pretty busy, service moving very efficiently. There was so many delicious sounding specials that it was hard to choose, but I went with a goat cheese omelette with mushrooms, spinach, and sundried tomatoes, while my mom had pancakes and Taylor ham. My omelette was loaded with toppings and the pancakes were enormous. Everything was absolutely incredible, and the wait staff was so friendly and welcoming. Will definitely be back for more!

Ok the food was good, average dinner in NJ. The service was horrible. The slowest service with almost zero interaction. We waited awhile before our service came to ask us what we wanted. I had to go from my table to the counter to get a refill on coffee and for a dinner not to have coffee continuously coming around is crazy. When I paid for my meal the lady tried to short me .97 cents, yes not a lot of money but come on give what you owe. My family and I drove 30 minutes for the dinner because we heard it was so good. Not worth the drive or the cost of food.

I came this morning with my sister and mom and kids ( toddler, baby and a 8 yr old) to try this new place out for breakfast. I had been told it was a great place. Unfortunately we weren't able to even order a drink because the staff here is very unprofessional. I walked in to see if I could get a table before my sister got here and was completely ignored not one person asked me to be seated being there is a sign as soon as you walk in that reads please wait to be seated. I walked out a bit annoyed and told my family to go elsewhere but they insisted on going here. We all went in again waited a few minutes before we were even looked at and finally a young woman said there was a table available. It's a very small place so we were seated right in the middle of a large table with someone else already having breakfast which is already awkward sharing s table with q complete stranger, but I ignored it. I asked the waitress for two high chairs. One for my 1 yr old son and another for my niece who is still an infant and was in her car seat so we wanted to put her in top of the high chair. The waitress comes back and leaves one and walks away. An older woman with short dark hair comes and leaves the menus, doesn't say good morning nothing. she sees my sister holding a car seat in her lap and doesn't even say let me get you a high chair. My sister asks if she could get a high chair and the lady goes over and gets it and leaves it there. I picked up that she seemed to be annoyed, mind you she walked right by me when I initially walked in the first time to try to get a table where I was IGNORED! As my sister places the car seat onto the high chair it was very uncomfortable it's a pretty small place we felt very cluttered and uncomfortable. That same lady the waitress comes back and has the nerve to say that's the high chair where the baby is in is in the way and it is a fire hazard and needs to be out of the way per her manager! What the hell!?? I immediately got up and said this is ridiculous and said we are leaving my mom grabbed the kids and headed out as we were all just annoyed at this point. On top of having poor customer service these people that work here have no manners she proceeded to talk about is while we were still gathering up our things in front of everyone saying well what do you want me to do its a fire hazard !? Along with the manager!! I have never felt so belittled in my life. Mind you of these people were smart all they had to say hey there's a wait for a larger table to accommodate you guys and it would've been fine. There were so many large tables with one person in each one. Like who the hell does the seating here!? Not only that the majority of the people dining there were all white people we were the only Hispanics which made us all feel like we were not Welcome at all. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone especially those with kids . I truly hope someone that works for this restaurant reads my comment and implements some manners and professionalism in...

OMG, I don't know the words to say to express the Absolutely PERFECT spot, to take your Family/Friends, It actually is what the essence of Mom & Pop shop is, Carver & his staff are just Genuine Real Down to Earth people whom not only make you feel welcome, but you actually really FEEL the family/friends vibe emanating from the moment you walk through the door, it's not a wasteful fancy decorated with wasteful paper goods and printed napkins, etc, it's not a trendy superficial way outrageously priced over commercialized chain-franchise-etc Hell No- it's that Cool Relaxing environment that's eclectic and genuine, I can't 2xpress enough in words but I can sum it up in a few words " GRANDMA'S HOUSE / Kitchen " You know that overfilled plate, and that genuine smile., And the absolute feeling of comfort and knowledge that you'll hmouth watering aroma from the oven, wave to unbutton your pant to be more comfortable you ate so much, that smell in the air, that coming from baked goods in oven ONLY GRANDMA could make so absolutely perfect, yes well this is just a average example of the actual TRUE everyday spot you can go and get a real value and tip quality for your $ and these days when everybody is in a rush and remember a time where you received an actual value that's fair and a portion / quality that you'd expect when spending your hard earned money, it's outrageous today when a 20.can buy food for 1-persin and it's bland nasty fast full of things you can't pronounce let alone spell pumped full of preservatives ( preserve what? If it's , ade fresh daily then no need add chemicals to preserve , Hostess Twinkie same freshness day -1 for 99 yrs, Snapple factđŸ€Ș) any case bang for your buck, and awesome down to earth friendly atmosphere you'll NVR be able beat Carv's spot that guy can seriously put a smile on your face after tasting anyone of his homemade dishes or baked goods he's got a flair for baking fruit pies. That make you want to slap your momma, .... [ Joke, lol] but seriously ever in or around Denville ask anyone they ALL tell you same thing I...

The place is quaint, food is decent, and prices are fair, but it’s overshadowed by poor customer service specifically from the oldest salt pepper haired server that wears glasses named Annette. I have been dining at carver for years back when Kevin (best server) worked here and always brought along a friend or family. Every single time my guests and I have been waited on by Annette, she had a sour and dismissive attitude plus never checked on us after our meals were served. The first few negative experiences I chalked it up to her maybe having a bad day or being overwhelmed at work, but after years of her aloof behavior, I have come to accept that is who she is as a person. I visited carvers regardless of her to support local business and because the other waiters are courteous and attentive, but after today’s interaction we can no longer overlook her nasty behavior.

Today I had my siblings with me and among them was my younger brother who is autistic and very soft spoken. Like clockwork, Annette arrived at our table annoyed like we were inconveniencing her, and asked for our orders. My little brother tried placing his order when she interrupted him saying, “yeah I can’t hear a single word you said”. He tried repeating his order while pointing to the menu and she cut him off again harshly asking, “you want the (order item) B?” to which he just nodded.

I spoke up and asked her to be patient and speak kinder to him but she just rolled her eyes, let out a big sigh and asked for my order. She was completely dismissive and didn’t try to apologize for her nasty behavior with a kid. I have the interaction recorded in case she tries to deny any wrongdoing, but unfortunately you can’t share video on google.

the unfriendly older waitress creates an uncomfortable/unpleasant environment and fails to understand customer service, this is something major for...
