The 53 Grill — Restaurant in Denville

Let me start this off with the food I have eaten from 53 Grill is great. Never a problem with taste and quality of food. With that being said, I have eaten here multiple times over the past year, mostly phone in orders with the people I work with. Not one time has our order been correct. If there is some type of spread that comes in the sandwich and you ask for it on the side, it's put on the sandwich. Ask to have something excluded, "no tomato" for instance, you're going to find tomatoes on your sandwich. Ask for a different cheese, good luck with that, you'll get whatever cheese that was included in the sandwich, or even better, a cheese that you didn't ask for or no cheese at all. It seems as if they disregard any request for a special order completely. There are reasons for people to ask to have items removed from a sandwich, one of the biggest being allergies, and by ignoring requests to have something changed in an order is putting someone at risk. This past order was the last straw, so to speak, so we will not be ordering...

I really wish our experience was as good as most of the reviews here indicate but unfortunately it was far from it. This was our first visit here and it will be our last. I had sent a private message to the restaurant but was not given the courtesy of a reply.

My wife and I just purchased a couple of sandwiches at the deli. She had tuna fish and I had roast beef and provolone. Actually I had a provolone sandwich. The roast beef was inedible. I gagged trying to eat it. It's was not fresh and appeared to have spoiled and should have been thrown away. I'm sure if you taste it you will come to the same conclusion. My wife was equally disappointed with her sandwich. The tuna was tasteless and not fresh. She was only able to eat half a sandwich. After seeing all the accolades posted on your refrigerators I was really looking forward to a great sandwich but unfortunately this time...

Thanks for your positive attitude and your outstanding customer service! The past two days I've gotten food from the 53 Grill and both days I was in a hurry. I was able to get hot and delicious empanadas, a drink, and pay all in a matter of 2 minutes. On top of that the following day I was undecided between a daily special and a classic chicken salad sandwich, to which the gentleman replied "Why don't you try some of the chicken salad?" Needless to say it was delicious and I purchased the sandwich thanks to his tasting suggestion. It's hard to find someone who cares enough about the customer's experience to aid in their selection, especially when that aid is presented in such a professional and kind manner.
