To provide some context: I worked at a firehouse for nearly a year before moving on to college in a different city in 2012. I've worked in the food industry where you're treated poorly by management on a daily basis, I take great care to be polite and professional when working with workers who are often paid less than they deserve. However, today a mistake was made resulting in me waiting for 45 minutes before finding out that my order was sitting on the toaster for likely half an hour. This wasted my entire lunch break at work. I spoke with the middle aged black woman who appeared to be the shift lead or manager, and expressed my frustration. I asked for a refund and even explained I felt bad doing so, but I felt it was justified that my food be free after waiting nearly an hour. She said next to nothing, turned around and threw the old sandwich out (likely cold at this point) and refunded me my money. She did issue a minor apology to which I replied "I understand, mistakes happen" hoping she'd understand I would forget it if they provided an appropriate resolution. A moment later, she asked what type of bread I ordered (as if she was putting in a new order to be made) and I sat down. 15-20 minutes later, a younger tall black man approached me asking politely if I had ordered anything because he had seen me with no food for over an hour. I approached the counter by the wrapping station, asking if an order was in. A younger white lady with gauges seemed concerned and said no order was in. A young shorter black man behind her decided to make snobby comments insinuating that I was refunded, and if I wanted food I had to pay for it. Either he was being an arrogant prick, or he didn't understand the fact that a mistake was made by either him, or his coworkers and I should not be responsible for that. A firehouse coworker and I put him in his place for the comments, and one of the concerned employees walked back into the prep area to ask the same manager/shift lead if she had put an order in for my sandwich that I should have had 50-60 minutes ago. The employee came back and told me no, I'd have to pay and wait even longer after their mistake wasted my entire lunch break. The manager didn't think it was worth walking out herself, apparently. At that point there was no point in wasting even more of my day and arguing with unreasonable and impolite individuals, so I simply said "So be it, if that's how it is, just forget it" and I walked out. The lack of professionalism exhibited by the select employees who made poor decisions after a mistake was made is disappointing, and it will result in a high likelihood of myself and my coworkers never returning to this firehouse location. Update: I did speak to the district manager about this the same week and he offered to provide me with a meal to make up for this unprofessional circumstance. Instead of taking the free meal (I embrace solutions, not excuses), I asked him to address the employees and process that failed to uphold firehouse's standards. I provided him with my email and phone number to contact me after he resolved it so I could visit this location again. I never received a phone call or email 3 months later. This is unacceptable and I will not be back. Mistakes happen, it's about how you resolve them. This location and its district...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWent to firehouse subs today around 5pm and had the worst service I've ever had there before. Me and my husband have eaten here prior to today with no issues and excellent service but today I'm sad to even have to write this review.
When we arrived to fire house subs we noticed one of the employees walking into the building who just got done taking out the trash. He pushed the trash cans in the back and then he rang up our order without washing his hands we stood there and watched him do this right in front of us. We then ordered our meals and that same employee walked over to serve us to our drinks with his hands unwashed and he touched his shirt multiple times. When we recieved our drinks it was straight carbon water. We told the three workers that the drinks were carbonated water and was really bad. They looked into the machine and one employee stated that the machine might need to be looked into. I asked for a refund for the two drinks, they said that we can try another drink. So we did with the same outcome with it being carbonated water. We took our drinks up the second time and asked them if they can refund us for the drinks. They refused and wouldn't resolve the issue. Me and my husband decided after this experience to leave because we were so grossed out and upset that anyone was refusing to help. I'm very disappointed and disgusted, why have a separate area for the employee to serve the customers and not protecting them? I'm disappointed in the service we recieved and paying for two medium drinks that were not only served to us unsanitarily but also carbon water with no resolution to help us refund the money back to us for drinks we...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFirehouse subs. I've long wanted to try Firehouse subs & finally decided to give them a shot. Was approx 6 pm on a Monday and the place has one table full, otherwise the whole place was empty. There were 3 employees working, one appeared to be brand new and the other was attempting to train. As I walked up to the counter to order, the manager/trainer said it may be a few minutes as they just had a order of 6 subs (I was confused as there were 4 people in the whole place). I watched the staff work, and noticed they were very disorganized and had very little prep work done to ease their process. After about 10 minutes of waiting, I finally was able to put my order in for a medium Caribbean jerk sandwich. The manager/trainer then told me it would be 10-15 minutes. While I was waiting, the table with 4 people were finally getting their food and half of the orders had mistakes (wrong dressing or wrong salad). I noticed a lot of grubhub drivers come in & out quickly with orders while I was waiting for over 20 minutes now. I finally got my "To go" order after 25 minutes in the store, which took longer to make then most sit down restaurants. The sandwich was pretty good & fresh when it was finally in my hands.
Pros: Decently Tasty, fresh & only cost 6 bucks. Cons: There should not be a long wait... I mean really... No sub shop should take that...
