Jack in the Box — Restaurant in Des Moines

Update 4/10/2024 I still want to give this restaurant four stars. However, I would caution others when ordering a Double Jack vs. Jumbo Jack, as the order takers tend to lean toward the Jumbo Jack. It's important to double-check your order on the screen to ensure accuracy.

Today, I ordered two Double Jacks, but they came out a bit watery. I'm not sure what caused that, but it seems like the cheese is overly melted and the buns are squished, making it less enjoyable. It seems like the cheese melting might be due to the microwave.

Update 3/12/2023 I like this Jack in the Box location, but I had a negative experience at the drive-through on Sunday night. I specifically ordered a “Double Jack, burger only and without cheese,” and repeated it twice. It took over 10 minutes to move from the menu screen to the drive-through window. When I arrived at the window, the server said, “Okay, one Jumbo Jack.” I insisted that we ordered a Double Jack and handed her my credit card.

The server, a young Hispanic lady, claimed that when she confirmed the order for a Jumbo Jack, I had said yes. My wife and I were confused and reiterated, “We ordered the Double Jack.” The server went inside and came back a couple of minutes later with a warm burger with cheese. It appeared to be a cheeseburger that had been sitting under the heat lamp. I'm not sure what happened.

I still plan to order from this drive-through but will consider recording the conversation at the time of the order, especially when ordering just one item, to avoid mistakes.

In the past After visiting Bonney Lake for the Christmas light show, my wife and I searched for a Jack In The Box that was open on Christmas night. We tried Sumner, Algona, and Federal Way. We found that some locations were open while others were closed based on their location. The open restaurant had a very long drive-thru line.

We decided to visit this Jack In The Box location and endure the 20-minute wait, which was worth it. The staff was excellent and worked hard on Christmas night to prepare high-quality food! We ordered two #5 Combo meals, which include the Double Jack, and we loved it.

A large menu but quality isnt great.

Jack in the box has cheap food but you get what you pay for. Some items are better or fresher than others. Still the majority of fast food these days is pre-cooked and they just warm thing up in a microwave. They have to do so to compete. But when they are selling you something for 99 cents and still making a profit they are not serving high quality food. Your stomach will usually let you know it did not like what you ate.

45 years ago McDonald's cut fresh potatoes on site and cooked burgers to order...especially if you had a special order. Today they dump frozen fries in the vat of oil and microwave burgers that were made some other time. The difference is huge and I cant tolerate their food anymore.

I would suggest going to the Wendy's close by and get a higher quality food. And buy a regular burger not one from the dollar menu and make a special order or otherwise ask for a fresh cooked burger. That's my best honest advice.

Jack in the box used to be better and had onion rings other places didnt have. What you get these days is not healthy and makes your stomach hurt. How can anyone...

I dont recomend this place to no body... bad service over night drive through... i bought a munchies meal and when i got home and opened my box there were only two small curly fries and a few french fries... i was mad but i wasnt going to go back from my house to jack because i live a bit far ...but then i ate my two tacos and when i opened my stacked grilled burger it only had a really thin slice of tomato and like 2 1/2 really tiny sliced pickles and cheese..... the meat and all just simply the burger made me yuck... i couldnt even eat it...it was taste less not even for what i payed... i been to 312th st jack in pacific hwy and they serve it full of fries and tasty... the burgers even make you more hungry and the service is fast and friendly...oohh and here in this place they ddnt even offer sauces i had to ask for them at the end when they had gave me the box and told me good night .... im just never going back to this place.... I DONT...
