This recent experience led me to leaving a not so happy review. Typically this is my go-to place in the area. It’s convenient for close to home, my kids love it and typically tastes great.
I would say it’s the perfect go-to lunch to grab for the kids and I to bring to the park or the Des Moines Marina.
It seems to always have at least two people working every time I stop in. I walked in with my sister in law and two kids. One of the employees was helping a father and daughter with their order.
My kids were distracting me acting like kids would be impatient while mom orders. My sister in law tells me “she’s ready to take your order” as I get done disciplining my 2 year old son.
I get up and tell the employee the start of order a large bowl. As the employee starts to ask what I would like, she starts scooping up two different orders while I’m telling her my choices. She continues to rush the other orders she started on while doing mine. Continues with the rest of the options but is completely distracted because she was attempting to continue with completing the other order she started on. Why would you start my order while still completing a different order.
I asked for items on the side rather than mixing everything together with the sauces and sides. My protein had no sauces in which I requested nor barely any sesame oil or salt added. The bowl was extremely bland and did not taste how it typically does when I order a custom bowl. I had asked for avocado and while feeding my daughter, she had taken a bites of the peel. We had two long pieces of it on still. I had forgot to ask for other items to add to the bowl due to being rushed.
Overall, this recent experience was not a good one. Any other time prior has been just fine. It was not a pleasant experience and I may not return. I rather search for a different location or different...
Read moreI was there earlier today getting a poke bowl for my fiance. She loves Just Poke and has been to many of the locations up north. We have never had an experience as disappointing as today. We should've known something was wrong when we started to order and the meat was slimier than normal, was off color, and had an overall weird shein to it. Since we have had so many good experiences at other just pokes we figured that all was well. When we were ordering the toppings, we asked for avacado, and the knife was being stored in the most disgusting bucket of water I have seen. It had all sorts of chunks of stuff floating about. The cucumbers in the cucumber bucket also looked slimely, blotchy and off color, but since we have had such good experiences in the past at other just pokes we decided to carry on.
We sit down, she eats a bit, it is so disgusting she can't eat more than a forth of it. She tells me that the avacado specifically has gone bad, so i go an talk to someone behind the counter. I explain the situation and how I would like a refund. The lady behind the counter goes and speaks to a manager, and then comea back and tells me that they can remake it, but they cannot offer a refund. We refused the bowl being remade since the next bowl would be made of the same ingredients and my fiance is starting to feel unwell at this point.

Read moreI really believe whoever was the “shift lead” today 8/16/24 at 830pm was literally hired off the street. There was a new hire she was training that was literally the sweetest. Customer service 10/10 but the “shift lead” …… I have never had such horrific service from a worker. Like my mouth is on the floor right now. She charged me $8 for two pieces of eel and when I called to say how does a regular bowl and a LEGIT small size of eel plus a scrap piece of eel come out to $30? I got a regular bowl with eel and was charged $30. When I stated I go to the kent location and Renton location and have never paid that much she said “oh maybe I rang it up wrong “. Then the new hire said “that’s a regular bowl you’re charging her for large” she brought it down to $25. I’m still flabbergasted. When I checked my receipt and saw I was charged $2.50 three times I called back around 8:55pm. This rude girl said “ I’m trying to close what do you expect me to do?
