Long John Silver's — Restaurant in Des Moines

We frequent this LJS every so often. On our last visit, a couple weeks ago, we used the drive thru for dinner and everything was great. However, this visit for lunch, also thru the drive thru around noon, so right in the heart of lunchtime, I was NOT impressed. I ordered the exact order we always get, 8 piece meal, so thought everything would be good. The chicken and coleslaw were fine. Chicken was a little cold, but it was drive thru, so I’ll give it the benefit of the doubt. The hush puppies and corn were really COLD, also, the puppies were badly over cooked to the point of cornbread batter dust balls and the corn was also basically mush. Now the fish. The smell of old fish that has expired hit our nose the second it entered our car. Like, it had been sitting out at room temperature, FOR AWHILE!!!! When we got home and opened the box, NOPE. The fish was bad, not edible at all. Smelled like old bait. Will definitely give LJS another shot, but this particular experience was just...

Great food..but poor customer service. Went in on the 29th and my order was wrong (probly cuz they dont reapeat it) got my food and went back to work. So i called and spoke with the manager chris. He said i could come back and get my missing item. I told him i could not..as back 2 work but I could come back and he could replace my order. Said he was not replacing my full order but agreed to 1 of my meals. I said fine I will be back in Thursday bout the same time. So Thursday it is and I was told no he only told her the missing item. Isaid that is not what he agreed to and ofcourse he is not in today. Asked me why they would replace a whole meal. That would be considered customer service. Goin above and beyond to make it right. So that person tells ppl hey they messed up but made it right with me. But instead here we are with a poor review and STILL waiting on that manager ti make it...

There were very few customers when we arrived. 12:30pm-1:00pm. 2 cars in the drive up. My grandson and I ordered the same 3 chicken 2 fish dinner, waffle fries, coleslaw and to hush puppies. Small drinks. It was $36 and some change. They took our order and about 15 minutes went by. Started wondering if I should go ask if they forgot about us. Instead, We watched the employees engaging with a customer that was having a problem with the app. Don't know the total head count of the employees..but I believe that they were short on help. After realizing the employees were actually doing what we came in for, fresh,hot food. No oily fishy waffle fries. You could tell the fries and fish and chicken were separated. I would have given more stars, but I don't blame the employees. Just doing the best they...
