WOW!!! Tried Nadiaâs French Bakery this morning and Iâm so glad we did !! I tried an almond croissant and a pain au chocolate. They were French perfection! My friend had a fruit tart and an almond croissant. She loved them both and said they were the best pastries sheâs had in Des Moines. I would agree. Yes, there are other places that make great French pastries in Des Moines. Personally, this is now my favorite. I also loved their house coffee. I just drink my coffee black and it was excellent coffee. My friend always gets some kind of coffee drink and she loved the cafĂ© au lait that she had. Nadia is located at about 28th and Grand in Des Moines. There is plenty of parking in her lot. Inside there are six tables for 4: 3 high tops and 3 regular height. The chairs are cushioned. I couldnât find any reviews that showed what they had for seating so thatâs why I include it. We were there for a couple of hours this morning, and it was a constant flow of people in and out. Nadia has been selling her French pastries at the farmers market for the past few years. This is a new brick and mortar for her. Her menu is currently limited, but I imagine she will expand as demand grows. Do yourself a favor and stop by. We will...
Read moreCame in before noon for desserts and a Cafe. Half of the inventory is gone . The coffee machine was not working , so no coffee. Got the pain au Chocolat and a blueberry tartallete. The pain was hard, doughey, not flaky, more like a bun than brioche , very unfortunate, although not too sweet, which is good. The blueberry tartallete had a nice crust, the filling was too liquid for our taste , the worst are the berries themselves, which were dry, shriveled up, very much not pleasant looking, therefore spoiling the overall experience. How strange , considering the name of the owner is on top, also strange as it is blueberry season and they are plentiful and cheap.
Have not tried the bread, perhaps it's worth the trip.
Nadia was nice.
Hope you do better, good luck.
Ps. Croissants cannot be that small,...
Read moreOver priced for food that was left out at the least overnight. FIRST IMPRESSION! I was super excited when I walked up and looked at all the food. I got a beignet tasted sour and like a donut.. I also got some hot food that wasn't even warm the meat was hard a rock! The almond croissant was so hard it cut my gums. I am really upset I couldn't eat the food, it was rock hard and you could tell the meat was well past the danger zone. I think spending 27 dollars on three lackluster items is highway robbery I would love for my money back. You can have great attitudes but if the food is terrible people won't want to come back. That was my first...
