Quinton's Bar & Deli — Restaurant in Des Moines

My family and I paid a visit here based on my sisters recommendation. She told us about the food here and we thought…what the hell? Let’s give it a try! Plus I can’t say no to the good old classic cheeseburger and fries on a Sunday afternoon.

We get there and immediately I have to use the restroom. I open the stall, unflushed toilet. No big deal. I’m used to that. I open the next. What I saw appalled me. Used pad and tampons on the floor…the toilet? Well you get the picture. There was only ONE good toilet that worked. But at that point I was disgusted but I held my tongue. My sister was the one that actually complained to the waitress. Her response? “Our cleaner haven’t arrived yet.” Okay. Sure.

Our waitress comes and takes our drink order. What throws us off immediately is that she is dressed in a tank top and pajama shorts. It looks disgusting. The bathrooms were already disgusting and now the way she dressed? Extremely unprofessional. You are serving customers. Try to look a little more professional.

My sister orders Chicken Strips. It’s a staple of hers. It comes and immediately our eyes widen. My mom tries to get her to send it back. My sister is not the one to really complain about food so she sits there and eats it with a Gordon Ramsay like look on her face. That says it all.

My mom and sister then order a steak sandwich. Both couldn’t eat the whole thing. We have had better steak sandwiches (with actual ribeye on it) and this didn’t even look like a steak sandwich. It looked like burnt ends and bread. My mom didn’t even eat her sandwich. Instead it went to my dogs. 😬😬

Let’s talk about the bill. I was fine with paying it and was ready to leave at that point until I saw there was a service charge. For what?! The unclean bathrooms? The way you were dressed? The abysmal food?! Plus my mom even got sick from the food when we got home. I had to point out in the car on the way home that we were charged a service fee and boy my mom was angry.

My sister was even wondering what the heck happened?! She had amazing service here the other day and said the food was way better. Did you change cooks? Did the service decline over the weekend?

Lo and behold, I don’t think we’ll be back. We very rarely come downtown and/or the East Village. There are other bar and grills in the area with much better food. Hope they learn...

Decided to stop here for their Monday happy hour for a Hamburger, we split a hamburger the fries were so wimpy, they weren't even edible, the burger was small and dry.... For $14.00 wow, unreal... Then, oh, I am not done, the arrival of the new shift staff, she had so much perfume on, when she walked by, all of it was sucked into my mouth, and completely put a Bad Taste in my mouth immediately, ick. I COMMENTED, "OH MY LAND, THAT IS HORRIBLE" AND she replied... "DID YOU SAY SOMETHING" HMMM, 🧐 YES, I DID.... I said your perfume is really Too much and bad, and her reply to me was "REALLY? I CAN PUT MORE ON IF YOU WANT"... I said, I bet you can!!! Won't be back any time soon, OMG 😳

Oh, yes .. forgot about the horrible, bartender, we were just taking up his time, he was hateful, and not helpful, WE asked about the IPA on tap, and were told to scan the On tap menu, mind you, we were the ONLY PEOPLE AT THE BAR, AND THERE WAS ONE TABLE IN THE DINING AREA (WE NOW KNOW WHY). He was all about talking to the waitress, who was off work at the time, he was kind to her, but us, don't even go there, everyone there acted like they just didn't want to be there. I told my husband, don't leave more than a 2.00 tip, but I am sure he did, he just won't do that, which just ENFORCES their rude behavior, I am telling you, ppl stop tipping BAD BEHAVIOR! OMG, I could go on, but I am over it now, don't venture...

I literally love you guys but i have never been a disappointed in my life. The service was fine, i really wish your Mac & cheese had a heat rating on it as my mans with IBS couldnt handle it at all - we waited 15 minutes for additional ranch so I just decided to try my Buffalo wings without. They got dumb busy by the time we got our apps so we waited a bit for our second round of drinks - his fries were soggy BUT she did get our orders right with our food fixes (no veggies) anywho, I asked for Buffalo sauce to damper the mac & he still couldn't stomach it - we decided to just get our check but it took another 15 minutes to get our server. I was disappointed in the service, food, & then the entire after shopping employees taking over the bar...I have worked 8 years in food chains & was just really disappointed.
