Food: As a Hispanic person who lived in Arizona for 15 years, I was confused. I struggled to process the information right in front of me on the menu. A natural taco? I asked the nice lady at the drive-through, and she informed me it included beef, chicken, or beans, cheese, and RANCH on a WHEAT tortilla. A wheat tortilla? Thats just called flat bread. A tortilla is flour or corn. I've never had an abuela ask me corn, flour, or wheat. In disbelief, I asked about the regular taco. The only difference was that it was on a flour tortilla, but it still had RANCH!
RANCH is for salads, and controversially, some other foods but definitely not tacos. It's like the founder went to Mexico and had a taco but forgot to write down the ingredients and ranch was the only white creamy sauce he could think of as a northwesterner so he slapped it on there confident he had it figured out.
The Hispanic employee inside looked depressed as he was preparing the food. He knew it was wrong. Everything in his blood was telling that this is wrong. But he was just following orders. I could tell it caused him pain. His ancestors were not smiling this day.
I ordered the burrito becsuse it did nit include ranch. Interestingly, the only difference between the taco and burrito is that the burrito doesn't include lettuce, tomato or ranch. They are the same size.
And don't get me started on the Mexican fries... which as far as I can tell, are just regular tater tots.
I never thought I would say it, but if you want more authentic Tacos, go to Taco Bell. Honestly it tastes better and costs less too. Or do yourself a favor, find any store that ends it -bertos with a 3.5 star rating - no more and no less - and go there. Bonus points if the review has conplaints about the staff being high or not speaking English. That's the good fast Mexican food.
Taco time is heretical and offensive. (In a lighthearted way).
But seriously it's not vert good. Save your money and taste buds and go...
Read moreI tried Taco Time for the first time, after a co-worker highly recommended it, and I was not let down.
Upon arriving at the drive-thru mic, I had informed the staff that this was my first time eating here, so she mentioned that the soft tacos were a favorite - so I ordered two of them and two crunchy tacos. The wait was a bit long (though there were three cars ahead of me) but I didn't mind because it was during a busier time of night.
Once reaching the window, it still took a bit of time to receive my order, but I liked how the staff member was able to counter the wait with a small conversation. She also asked how many sauces I wanted, which is a subtle, yet powerful, gesture of generosity - I hate receiving a hand full of said sauce because I end up throwing away 90% of them.
Anyways, whenever I was handed my bag, I was surprised at how much it weighed - in a good way - and to make a long story short, the meal was extremely delicious! Everything, from the ground beef to the lettuce and tomatoes, tasted authentic and real (especially compared to their competitors).
Taco Time has just...
Read moreTonight was a new turn for the worse for DM Taco Time, that started with extensive energy expended coaxing any greeting from our host at the cash register, to getting our food, and most of the order incorrect, followed by a subpar Veggie Soft Taco, only being repeated the same way, when I showed how bad it was. I swear they used to have something crunchy like bean sprouts, but have no fill, or real veggies to speak of now.The bag of Crustos was instead, chips for salsa. Each mistake was corrected and replaced, but without much enthusiasm or regret. Friday night Crew; find the drawing board, and go back to it for a refresher course. 9/14/18
The food is always fresh, tasty, and prepared quickly. The restaurant is clean and pleasant. Having made huge improvements in service, there is still room for more engagement in customer contact and keeping the condiment table filled. We will continue to eat there and look forward to being able to add...
