We took the snoqualmie falls and winery tour on 9/4 and had Cory as our guide. He was very personable, and was sure to point out landmarks and points of interest as we passed them.
Our first stop was at Chateau St. Michelle, they had a variety of wine flights from different areas of the world. The grounds were beautiful, and they offer tours every 30 minutes. The bartenders weren't that helpful in explaining what each wine was, so as a non-wine drinker I was left a bit confused. The flights here ranged from $15-25/person.
Our second location was at Goose Ridge Winery, we had a blast here. The ladies that run the winery clearly love their job, and we're very helpful in explaining exactly what each wine we tasted was, how the grapes for each wine were harvested, etc. I couldn't recommend them enough! The flight is $10/person and they gave us quite a bit more than was on the menu, I think we tasted 7 or 8 winea/ciders. They also waive the tasting fee if your purchase a bottle, their wines start at around $20.
Next we stopped for about 20-30 minutes at snoqualmie falls, I was under the impression that this was a hike, and that we'd be there longer it's not, you take a trip down a ramp about 60' to an observation area. This didn't disappoint me in the end because the falls are beautiful, and you spend an appropriate amount of time to take everything in.
Last we stopped at a small chocolate factory called Boehm's candy. We took a tour of their kitchen, and were given a few samples along the way. It's very quaint, and designed to look like a building from Switzerland. The candy was good but a bit pricey.
In all I would recommend this trip if you're looking to get out of the city for a few hours, take in some sights and try some wine and chocolate. I WOULD NOT recommend this trip if you're an experienced wine drinker and expect a vineyard tour like you'd get in Napa or various other places. This tour is more of an intro to Washington wine, if you're expecting more than that you'll almost surely leave...
Read moreHad a fantastic time doing a day tour at Mt. Rainier, led by Joe who's an absolute treasure who must be guarded at all costs!! He made sure everybody had a good time, was extremely sweet and did not rush anybody in the least despite having done this tour probably a thousand times before, I for one would definitely be sick of it by now lol. He made excellent use of the time we had given everybody's preferences, gave us quite a bit of alone time to hike around and did not leave a single question unanswered.
Although I initially signed up just to have a mode of transportation since I don't drive and somebody thought it was a good idea not to run transit to the park for whatever reason (😐) I did end up loving the wealth of knowledge he had to share and the tips on how to get the most out of a day trip. While I'm looking forward to going back alone and spending a lot more time hiking it was definitely worth getting to know about the place from a pro, the kind of stuff you'd be hard pressed to find online.
Pick up and drop off was extremely smooth and on time, no complaints there either. Overall a 10/10 experience with the management as well as the guide, def gonna check out their...
Read moreIf I was just rating the tour guide, I would give Lucas five stars. He was knowledgeable and fun. He informed us to conditions on our tour and was excellent in this way. Unfortunately, it was a very rainy day when we went so we didn't get to see Mount Rainier, but it was still a delightful trip. One error was made. Lucas had us stop at a grocery store and told us it would be our only opportunity to get food to eat on the trip. I don't know if this was Lucas or a company policy. In reality, there was a chance to get ice cream at a bathroom stop on the way up and pie on the way back. When we got to Longmeier, there was a restaurant at the inn. We would have been happy to eat there. Instead, we had the food from the grocery store and no warm place to eat it. We ate on the porch of the inn while it was rainy heavily and about 42 degrees. Other than that, it was wonderful to see this unique place in Washington State and learn about the history and ecology of the mountain....
