Tasty Tacos — Restaurant in Des Moines

If I ever move from Des Moines, losing Tasty Tacos is going to cause me serious second thoughts. This is the finest Mex-themed food I've ever enjoyed, and I've pursued that through all of the Southwest and into Mexico for over 45+ years. Quality of the fare is excellent and it's always consistent between locations (yes, I never miss one wherever I am if it's even remotely lunch time). The menu has something for everyone who likes this sort of thing. My only disappointment is that the hot sauce - isn't, really. But that's just an Iowa thing; no one in the Midwest really knows what hot food is like or recognizes its rewards. Tragedy. I don't hold Tasty Tacos to account for that. If I'm in a patient mood I get takeout and bring it home to season properly. Otherwise, their food is wonderfully "tasty" and wholly gratifying. I came to this review opportunity just now having searched for their hours so I could know how long I have to wait today to get what I'm so seriously Jonesing for... I usually like Tasty Tacos, but during today's visit, I took my order to go, I had ordered 2 enchiladas for myself and one for my son, both with a side of rice and a side of beans. I got home and realized that I only got 2 of the 3 enchiladas. I called the store and told them I'd like a refund for the enchilada I didn't receive put back on my card because I didn't want to return to the store, I'd rather just eat what I'd gotten. At this point a lady manager (small woman with blonde hair and guages in her ears... I didn't catch her name) got on the phone and told me no, that I was lying and that she had bagged my meal HERSELF, and KNEW all the food was there. So I had to return to the store to SHOW them that the order was wrong, and ended up just getting a refund and taking my business elsewhere. Tasty Tacos is great, but won't be returning to the SE 14th location...

Order #1230 Friday 9/5/25 SE 14th 4:58,ordered $45 food take out for 3 as my wife's office downtown orders from another location 14th/Grand,not the location on SE14th. After getting home noticed tacos had 1 table spoon of meat not even covering base of taco shell and a pinch of cheese and a pinch of lettuce mostly eating a doughy taco. Calling manager to address she informed us this is what the owners informed her of how much food to put inside taco. Was informed by wife that E14th /Grand location tacos are filled with much more meat,cheese,lettuce. Avoid this location as you will not get your money's worth. Only guessing Tasty Taco SE 14th is experiencing a higher Trump Tariff than the location E14th/Grand being a different franchise owner 3 miles away. Drive the 3 miles get your money worth,for $45 feeding 3 still hungry and...
