Zanzibar's Coffee Adventure — Restaurant in Des Moines

I drink my coffee with no additives of any kind, so I can actually taste the real flavors of the coffee. I can tell you that Zanzibar's coffee is delicious! I ordered my coffee to go but I ended up sitting down to talk to a friend that I ran into at the shop. The atmosphere of Zanzibar's is another real positive for me. It is a warm and comfortable environment. It wasn't too loud, despite being very busy while I was there, at 8:30am on aa Friday. The service was super quick and everyone was very friendly. I believe three different Zanzibar's people were involved in my order and coffee delivery. It might have taken a total of 45 seconds from start to finish, which included paying with a credit card! I didn't buy or consume any of their food so my rating here for the food is based on appearance, variety and price. I'll get some food on my next visit and I'll update my review after that.

I highly recommend stopping by Zanzibar's for some delicious coffee.

We went here to try their breakfast and drinks for the first time. The counter server was nice and very helpful in explaining what certain items were, as their menu doesn't list ingredients for the different named food items. The general atmosphere of the place was also good.

Unfortunately, their products just weren't that good. My wife and I both tried different sandwich items, and while they sounded great, they put so many green onions on them that it was all you could really taste on mine, and my wife said her sandwich was too oniony as well, though not quite as much as mine.

Additionally, I got a hot chocolate with white chocolate in place of the sugar so it would be sweeter, but it was still quite bitter. My wife got a mint mocha drink as well, and she said both the mint and mocha flavors were extremely mild and just not that good.

While I suspect their regular coffee is good for people who enjoy coffee, what we got just didn't live up to the expectations we had based on prices. I wouldn't likely...

I love going to star bucks and getting coffee. I had some family members recommend Zanzibar to me. I went to check it out and found that they roast their own coffee beans in house from around the world, and let me tell you the place smells amazing. i was quite shocked at the different selections of coffees they had and how they served them, hot coffees or even have them made into frozen drinks. they also serve other items besides coffee drinks. they to have smoothies. they are delicious, i have had several of them and i keep going back to get more. Prices at Zanzibar are competitive to Starbucks and surrounding coffee shops. what i love best about the shop is that it is local ! i love Starbucks don't get me wrong but if i have the chance to support a local coffee shop to not only help them out but also help out the town i will in a heartbeat. i would recommend this coffee shop to anybody who loves coffee and even smoothies.
