Phat Matt's — Restaurant in DeSoto

Came back two days in a row, wings are made fresh and fries are seasoned. Sweet Tea is actually sweet and not liquid diabetes. I got Sweet Hot which are as advertised.

Previously I gave the restaurant 5 stars which felt deserved at the time but after visiting the most recent time I’m afraid those 5 are down to 2. My reasoning is the wing quality dropped, the sauce got watery, and the price went up. Price: When I posted these photos I spent a total of 17.58 on 10 wings, fries, and a drink. But when I went in this time I almost spent $21 on fries and the wings alone. I’ll round up for argument sake, the wings were $13 and the fries $4 + $1.50tax. Maybe my math is off but that’s $18.50 but the pay terminal said $21 and change maybe I missed something. I opted out of the fries and only got wings ($13) which were disappointing to say the least. Quality of food: The wings in the photo are sizable and the sauce stuck to the wing. The wings I just received were all half the size and the sauce tasted watered down. The wings were also floppy, they didn’t have that crunch you want from your wings. I felt like I was eating dominos wings 😔. I’m not sure what happened but my overall experience has dropped I’m not sure I’ll be back for...

Wings are great but service is anything but. Called over the phone to place an order for pick up and was told I couldn't place an order because the grease was being changed and wouldn't be ready for an hour or an hour and half. No problem, I said to myself, I'll go there and I'll wait until they are ready. Within less than 10 minutes I enter the establishment and placed my order. I was expecting to be told that the grease was being changed, but I wasn't told anything. After I placed my order and waited outside I noticed the young man who answered the phone brought an order out to a car that was already there before me.

I was told my order would take 15 minutes or so. I waited about 20 minutes and walked back in to see the 2 young men working 1 with a fro the other with dreads sitting in the corner taking to each taking a break. I said" is my order ready" he replied yes, walked over and retrieved my order. I thought it was odd that he didn't bring the order out or motion for me to come in ; because he understood that I was waiting. I guess it's a common case of not wanting to be at work 😕.

It's July 2022 This is still happening. You can call this establishment on any given night after 8:00pm they will make up a lie...

I absolutely love the food here, and have come back time and time again even though the customer service is HORRIBLE! The phone line is always busy, as if they leave the phone off the hook, and when you come in and tell them...they never apologize. And let’s not forget to mention, they are understaffed...

Today @12:30-12:45, I called once, it rung with no busy signal, just no answer. Called back all of 10 times, BUSY...I go in to order, and the only person there is trying to complete orders (understandable), but NEVER acknowledged me! I waited patiently for 5 mins, watching him cook...I finally asked him if he was the only one working, and he responded “yes.” Ok cool, he’s busy I get it...but he still never mentioned he would be with me in a moment...nothing 😒. So, I wait another 5-10 mins and politely asked, “did he know when he would be able to take my order?” And he replies, “in about 5 mins!”

HORRIBLE!!! I NEVER write bad reviews especially with black owned businesses, but today was the last straw! I’ll just have to drive further to get good food and quality customer service. I truly do hope that no one else will have to deal with these same issues.
