I usually don't write reviews if I don't like the food. It wasn't horrible, well the curly fries were disgusting. They were really tough and that's a first for me I also ordered the chicken shawarma. I should have walked out when I saw how they were cooking it Chicken shawarma is supposed to be cooked on a spit and slowly roasted. Not here, it's cooked on a stove top grill. Then chopped not shaved. You can't call this shawarma smh. They use a whole pita bread to wrap it, Another red flag. You're supposed to separate the pita bread. They just wrapped it from a store bought pitta bread without separating it. It's also supposed to be toasted using a press to give the pita some texture that would hold up to the moisture from the chicken. Here they just pull it straight from the bag and start stacking. The garlic spread wasn't present and lacked flavor. And the pickle smh. There was only one pickle. And it was wide instead of the usual thin sliced pickles. The pickle lacked that special zip that makes shawarma stand out. Things like this happen when western people try to decolonize an entire culture's food. Stick to the traditional way. The authentic way works for the top shawarma shops. So why be different. Chopping the meat vs shaving the meat makes you load more meat then necessary which isn't an issue but chopping leaves less texture then shaving it from a spit. Honestly what I had wasn't even as juicy as shaved from a spit.

Food: I've attached the photo of why the food received one star. I didn't realize it until this morning when I was packing my leftovers (from last night) up. I noticed that all of my pita bread was molded. I had ate at least one whole one. No I did not notice this last night or I would have called the restaurant back. Service: I walked in and there were people at each register. No one even looked at me. One was on her phone, the next one was talking with a coworker (looked like they were talking about the restaurant business so I did not mind them ignoring me. The other was looking at the computer screen but for what who knows. After about 30seconds, the young lady who was talking about something with her coworker took my order. I was given my food less than a minute later. Atmosphere: It was nice and clean, inviting, and somewhere I would sit with my daughter and eat. Had it not been for the moldy pita bread, I would not have even wrote a review. Me and my mom order from here often and this is the first time I have experience this with any of the Bucharest restaurants but I'm still irritated because now on my lunch break I have to leave (which I was trying to avoid doing) and go to another restaurant to buy more pita bread to eat with my lamb/hummus (which I was also trying to avoid doing). ****Tried calling this morning but the mailbox is full***

I know this review is pointless because the food at Bucharest more than makes up for the TERRIBLE service at this location, so as much as I wish I could say I would not be back, I probably will, only to be disappointed again. Food is always excellent. I didn't not realize the side salad ($5) did not have lettuce in it (because it's called a salad?) and there are no menus with descriptions at the store. When I got my order and saw the salad with no lettuce, the cashier (looking at her phone the whole time) "politely" informed me that "we didn't make the menu, tf?" then proceeded to help the next guest, still glued to her phone. Apparently the house and side "salads" are just oily vegetables. It's a good thing their house dressing is fantastic, so I guess I will add my own lettuce and just skip lunch today. The manager offered to sell me a cup of lettuce for $1, and when I asked if she could just do me a solid and give me the lettuce this once, since they don't have menu descriptions and it's a SALAD, her response was "I can't do that because then you'll expect it that way every time." Oh and don't ask for light cheese in a quesadilla or they won't put any. This location needs to train their staff in customer service, and/or PAY THEM ENOUGH TO CARE ABOUT THEIR JOBS. TLDR: Great food. Awful service. Be prepared.

Service was terrible! Starting with placing my order. I told the young lady thank you and she hung up on me. Upon arrival, customers were standing around waiting on their orders.I could tell they were unhappy. I was not acknowledged. A young lady with a light purple wig was arguing with a customer. Very rude to him another young lady took over that had some sort of customer service skills. The young ladies in there were all on their phones. Their attitudes were bad. I placed a order 17 mins before I arrived and still waited 30 mins for my food. When I went to ask the young lady at the register could she check on my order, she gave me the nastiest look as if I was bothering her after she decided to acknowledge me. One young lady came from around the counter to take a selfie. Then another young lady behind the counter started “twerking” in the selfie. Terrible Terrible Terrible customer service at the Livernois location. I had a taste for a Bucharest shawarma so I drove 33 mins to Detroit. I wish I haven’t. I ordered at 6 pack. I regret spending the $31. Management needs to train, monitor, discipline, and terminate as needed at this location. I decided to give my experience 2 stars ⭐️ because the cooks had on face mask and were doing their job. The food tasted as expected. I typically don’t give reviews but I figured if I called to complain I might just get hung up on. I hope the right people are reading this and more people write a review, so this location can be...
