The Narrow Way Cafe & Shop — Restaurant in Detroit

I really like this coffee shop and have pointed a few friends in their direction. The pastries are delicious and I love the atmosphere but the three-star is because customer service could be better.

It had been months since I'd visited because I no longer work in the area thanks to COVID. Instead of going to my local spot, I drove 20 minutes to show support. I ordered a salted caramel latte, a Fall Lovers latte and a cookie. Unfortunately, it took 20 minutes to fill the order even though there were only two customers ahead of me. There were also two customers that came after me who recieved their hot beverages before me. (Maybe I wouldn't have minded so much if it weren't so cold.)

The cashier was really apologetic about the wait, which I appreciated but after a few sips of the salted caramel latte, I realized it was too salty to drink. Sadly, by the time the drink cooled enough for me to try it, I was already on the other side of the city. I called to share my experience and asked if there was anything that could be done to rectify the situation apart from me driving back right then and there. The cashier again apologized, took down my name and phone number and said that she would have her manager call me later that day. It's been a month and I still haven't heard from anyone.

I should mention that my husband really enjoyed his Fall Lovers latte and the cookie was delicious. I also appreciate the COVID precautions that are in place.

The customer service is very accommodating coming in greeting you and when you leave. They have perks for joining their app and socials. The shop is very clean and has an intimate homely appeal to it. The seating is isolated with a long sofa and chairs with separate tables. A good vibe with personal or business meetings. If you like contemporary jazz this is the place to have your sip and a snack. I like the approach of the business is to create regulars and familiarity. The menu selection is good with a variety of coffee hot or cold, teas, smoothies, muffins or sliced muffin bread, and a variety of other items. They are also conscious of external items that exfoliate skin and bath salts for optimal health...

The cafe is clean and nice. My main issue is with the lack of knowledge of the people working behind the counter. I asked what the monthly brew was and was told it was a pour over, then I tried to re clarify my question by asking where it was from. Unfortunately the young man behind the counter could not answer that any further than the company who roasts it.

I settled on a cappuccino as they did not offer single origin coffees. When I got it I was sad to see it came in a paper cup not a ceramic mug. The coffee its self was not terrible but I had higher hopes than what I received.
