I see that you took the time to respond to my review. My bank did reach out to you as did I after the birthday party, I never heard from you and I no longer cared to deal with the unprofessionalism; I would've never accepted anything you had to offer but my money back because I believe you to be a spiteful business owner. Regardless! You should've left the response as is. You didn't bake the cake? That's really funny. What a liar, it's a shame and you are so unprofessional it's disgusting. You did in fact bake the cake, along with a red velvet cake, and a smash cake. The cake didn't have any tier foundations, the smash cake was not the flavor we discussed and what was listed on the order form, you took the smaller cakes out of the fridge and that cake was fresh out of the oven (you told me the night before you weren't going to be working on it until the morning of the party remember? (I have the e-mail) It's not my job to delegate how you perform your baker duties), people shouldn't decorate cakes warm but they do and that's exactly what YOU did! The box wasn't even big enough for the cake as shown in the picture so why give people advice on how to transport it when it isn't even secured appropriately to leave your bakery? Please don't respond with your nonsensical comments again because if it will please you and your unprofessional staff I will post pictures of the receipt, the other cakes, and the e-mails that you took forever to respond to or didn't respond to at all (sounds right up your alley). You took advantage of a mother (that was willing to be a long term customer) trying to make her child's birthday amazing for your own selfish gain. You can easily click on my avatar to access my e-mail address if you wanted to "rectify" the problem. THANK-YOU GOOGLE AND OTHER CUSTOMER REVIEW SITES FOR NOT ALLOWING BUSINESS OWNERS TO ONLY SHOWCASE THEIR "GOOD" SERVICES! AND THANK-YOU FOR ALLOWING ALL CUSTOMERS AN OPPORTUNITY TO VOICE THEIR OPINIONS IN A FORUM THAT DOESN'T ALLOW BUSINESS OWNERS TO REMOVE REAL!!! REVIEWS BECAUSE THEY'RE NOT REVIEWS THAT THEY LIKE!!! DO BETTER BUSINESS & YOU WON'T GET DISPLEASED CUSTOMERS! YOU SHOULD APPRECIATE THE HONEST FEEDBACK! It doesn't matter if it happened yesterday or last year, the service was provided by your business and it was subpar to say the least; people should be aware of the good and the bad as prospective patrons. You still send me e-mails asking that I rate my experience with your company (I received one just last week) so this review along with reviews from customers that conducted business with you 2 months ago - 2 years ago is still important, you don't seem to mind good reviews from 2015 customers posted in 2018!

People beware, this woman is as unprofessional as it gets. This business doesn't even deserve the 1 star it received from me. I'm not the first person to have a similar complaint, read the other 1 star Google reviews and check out the company's Facebook page.

I personally will not get ANYTHING from here again. We ordered a cake for our baby's birthday & upon pickup the cake was still warm & fell apart on the way to the party (picked up by a friend, I would've never left the bakery with it). It also did not look the way we discussed nor were the tiers the flavors we discussed. The owner is unprofessional & I should've decided to go with another bakery but I was in a pinch by the time she responded with misspelled words & false customer appreciation. Her workers quoted me a different price than she did & I think she was upset that she'd be losing money preparing the cake I ordered but that's not the customers fault. I've NEVER had such a bad experience with a business before. I tell everyone that I come in contact with about her customer service & lack of respect. They were cakes for a baby & sure weren't free! She didn't care! It's okay to get a quick snack although I will never do that but I'd suggest going somewhere else for a big purchase. So yesterday after hearing Tracey ask about going to this place for the 100th time, we finally made it to Good Cakes and Bakes after work. As a fellow baker I must admit, I was in no rush to go because normally you realize they are using boxed cake recipes doctored up. After reading some reviews and Tracey asking again, let's just get it out the way.

Well the first thing i realized is how much has changed in the Livernois and 7 mile area. Kuzzo's Chicken & Waffles restaurant was jam packed at 9am. Flagship Clothing Store had some nice things on display in the window and the area really seemed alive. It was a very nice thing to see as the location is nowhere near the always hustling and bustling downtown Detroit area.

Good Cakes and Bakes is located at 19363 Livernois, again, right next to Kuzzo's Chicken. They open daily at 9 am and we were there at 9:05 with a fully stocked store. First things first, the store smells AMAZING. Imagine the smell of Pineapple Upside Down Cake mixed with Caramel Cake mixed with Strawberry Cake mixed with Banana Pudding cupcakes all in one room! Man oh man! Heavenly! Also, they specialize in organic and vegan (Karol and Marci) as well.

There is a large seating area that is very comfortable and inviting. They hold community meetings every Sunday addressing issues in and around the community. For this reason they are normally closed on Sunday to allow time for these meetings. I could go on and on about the things going on here, but lets get to the real reason we are here, the food.

I am a baker myself, so I will be the FIRST to admit I judge a little harder on cakes and pastry places, so if i say it's good, it's GOOD! Good Cakes and Bakes gets a standing ovation from me. I ordered the Pineapple Upside Down Cake and a Oatmeal Cookie sandwich. Let's start with the sandwich.

Oatmeal cookies is a surprisingly difficult thing to make. Sure you can make them, but can you get the flavors to pop as a cohesive unit? That's the magic with oatmeal cookies and Good Cakes and Bakes was dead on with it. You get a taste of cinnamon, raisin, oatmeal, touch of nuts and everything in between times 2 since it's a sandwich. Then add to that a not overly sweet creamy filing in the middle. OH MY! I ordered this as my snack in the car home. After first bite it became a instant classic. This my friends is a MUST BUY!

After falling asleep and waking up with the beautiful taste of oatmeal cookie sandwich in my mouth, I knew i had to try my Pineapple Upside Down cake. I opened the canister and immediately noticed how moist the cake was. Very moist with an awesome aroma.

Here is what i truly liked about the cake. While it is a bundt cake, every layer is a different texture. The bottom was soft and moist with a minimum amount of pineapple flavor. The middle had a slight crunch to it and the pineapple flavor picked up in intensity. The top layer simply slapped you with pineapple flavor and had a beautiful golden brown color. Wanna know what the best part of this cake was? The aftertaste! Man the aftertaste is phenomenal! You ever had cake that was good, but you wanted to drink milk or something soon after? Not this cake, you want that flavor to sit there as long as possible. This cake was perfectly created in every way.

Good Cakes and Bakes has a lot of good things going for it. Great location? Check. Extremely knowledgeable and friendly staff? Check, but the biggest check they have simply speaks for itself, the cakes and bakes. I encourage ALL my Chompers to check them out. Grades are in the comments section.

P.S. Shout out to the cashier in training. You have that job because you are good at what you do. Don't worry! :-)

My experience with this company was quite atrocious. I attended my niece’s 2nd birthday party and my sister had purchased the cake a month in advance. She was promised via email confirmation/receipt that the cake would be delivered to the venue at 4pm. The space was only booked from 3-5 & there was a party directly after. At 4:08pm, when we noticed the cake had not been delivered, we called the store & were told that the driver had just left the store. We asked for an ETA & were told that we would receive a call back with the update. Instead of receiving that call, I called again at 4:20pm & was told that the driver was “on her way.” Not only was that not an ETA, there was no compassion or empathy given. My sister worked really hard to plan that birthday party & what kid wants to come to a party with no cake? I explained to the employee that the information given was not in the least bit helpful & that I needed some type of timeframe because the venue was only booked until 5pm. She continued to say “I don’t know what to tell you. She’s on her way.” When I asked to speak to the manager, she told me that the manager was the one delivering the cake. I also heard her speaking to what I assume was another employee in the background & they were very unprofessional with handling their error! I explained how this was a big inconvenience & no type of compensation or a mere apology was given. The delivery was made at 5:05pm! My other sister went out to ask the owner about the situation & she was just as unprofessional. She was adamant that she delivered the cake on time & that she was “not going to rush” to bring the cake to the party. The shop was 30 minutes away from our location. You guys do the math! The entire situation was very tacky and unprofessional & we will never patronize this place again! Lastly, the cupcakes were cold & dry. 🤷🏿‍♀️ Since it won’t allow me to respond to her reply, the issue is that you never spoke to me directly. I in fact did NOT yell at your staff. You need to train you staff on how to handle unpleasant situations or conversations. I’ve worked in customer service and have had the proper training so what sense would it make for me to belittle and be rude to your staff on top of knowing our food would be handled by you all?
