Fantastic pub!! We were looking for a place to celebrate our 23rd wedding anniversary after watching Riverdance and what better place than a pub with the same name as my husband (Shane)?? We found a delightful table away from the tvs and close to the bathroom 👍👍to browse through the vast menu. We took forever to make our choices because they all sound so delicious!! Our patient server gave us all the time we needed without just forgetting about us. We splurged and got two appetizers because we couldn't pick just one. Michigan salad - So yummy!! With those traverse city cherries dried to perfection and chunks of bleu cheese and walnuts topped the lettuce wonderfully. The vinegarette was 👌 Ale battered dill pickles - a large serving deep fried spears of crunchy goodness dazzled our tastebuds. Our main courses came out hot in good time. I ordered: Irish Pub Pot Roast and it was amazing!! Soft, creamy, herby mashed potatoes were just what i wanted. The beef and gravy were cooked and seasoned just right and the broccoli was bright and steamy! I was quite happy with my choice. My husband ordered: Fish and Chips : Ive gotta say they were the best we've ever tasted! There is an art to making those fillets and their breading just right and then fry them til they are golden brown and the cook absolutely nailed it! Fries were crispy and tasty. The irish coleslaw was good too. A bit sweet for my taste. Both meals had sweet cornbread and that was true advertising. It was basically cake, and that's not bad! There's really nothing i could complain about during our meal at McShane's. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are grateful for such a place to celebrate each other and splash out for...
Read moreI am a big fan of fish and chips and was craving for it a couple of days ago while at work. I placed the order online and scheduled a pick up time. Got the confirmation text. Went to pick up the order but was told the order wasn’t entered in their system (I am assuming this is done manually by one of their staff but somehow missed it). Long story short, I waited there for about 20-25 mins while they cooked my food. This didn’t bother me much as it was only a matter of a little inconvenience and work was fairly light that day. The manager apologized for my inconvenience and rushed the order. I brought the food back (my coworker also had ordered the same). There were 3 pieces of fish, potato fries, cornbread, coleslaw, tartar sauce and a piece of lettuce. The first two pieces tasted reasonable and the coleslaw was very good. The fries were mediocre at best. As soon as I cut the 3rd piece open there was a foul smell. First I thought it was coming from somewhere else but then realized it was the fish! It was a very strong, foul, nauseating smell! I threw whatever was left in garbage. I am not sure what exactly happened. I was very disappointed as this ruined my fish and chips experience and won’t be eating any from anywhere for a long time. The pieces my coworker got were fine. I didn’t reach out to the restaurant to let them know right away (I should have) but will be contacting them to let them know so they can check their inventory and make sure they don’t have any more of...
Read moreAfter an incredible first visit with a delightful waitress a few weeks ago, we decided to return a second time for brunch (which ended up being big mistake). After we sat at the bar, got our drinks, and placed our food orders we barely saw anyone until we got our food close to 1.5 hours later. One of us got the bottomless mimosas and within the entire 1.5 hours was only able to get 2 refills. We watched every other person at the bar be attended to and get their food and drinks long after we ordered. The one saving grace that helped the wait was the Lions game that we were clearly watching on tv, but at the request of a single patron all of the tvs were immediately changed to non-Detroit football games. Eventually the bartender glanced in our direction, mouthed “oh no”, and went to get our food. Once we were finally able served our food it was COLD. Not once did anyone acknowledge our wait, the cold food after it was brought to their attention, or apologize at all. The quickest thing we were able to get was the bill (once we asked). This is the first time I’ve ever left a review or complained about any establishment, but I felt like I had to because the service was that bad. It would have been nice for a manager to have apologized for the terrible service or for it even to have been addressed at all. We will definitely think hard before returning to McShane’s...
