This was our first time dining at Savoy, and overall, the experience was just okay. We had a 5:00 PM reservation for Mother’s Day and were seated promptly upon arrival. The greeting at the door was warm and welcoming, which we appreciated. The ambiance was pleasant, and the music selection was thoughtful—centered around mothers, which was a nice touch for the occasion. Admittedly, it brought up some emotions for me, as I lost my mother a few years ago, but I understand and appreciate the sentiment behind it. However, the service left something to be desired. After being seated, we waited quite a while before our server approached the table. She brought bread and took our drink orders, but it was some time before she returned to take our meal selections. That said, the food arrived fairly quickly once the order was placed, though it was warm rather than hot. My daughter ordered the stuffed salmon, which was advertised as being filled with crab. She felt there was no crab in her dish, though she did enjoy the overall flavor. My husband ordered the steak and was satisfied with his meal. I had the pasta with blackened salmon. It was okay, but the Alfredo sauce tasted like it came from a jar rather than being freshly made. We also placed a to-go order for chicken wings, which we expected to be whole wings, but were instead served wing dings—something we would have preferred to know in advance. Additionally, there were no complimentary refills for soda, which wasn’t communicated beforehand, and we were charged for each. My daughter ordered a slice of key lime pie to go, and we were surprised at how small the portion was, especially considering the $12.95 price tag. My husband and daughter are open to giving Savoy another try, but I remain unsure. While the atmosphere and some elements were enjoyable, the slow service and lack of clarity around menu items and pricing were disappointing. Also, automatically adding a 20% gratuity feels excessive when the service doesn't meet expectations.

This was a horrible dining experience food wise. DINER BE WARE! I had high hopes after a few influencers posted there experience. I live for fine dining. It's outside of downtown but I took the chance and went. I was very disappointed. It's nicely decorated, our server was attentive, music not too loud, drinks tasty. The food was disgusting. Almost everything on the menu is fried, that shoukd have been the red flag. The "bread" no idea what it truly was. So bland and covered with something, not butter. My Caesar salad was so fishy. I know Caesar traditional are made with anchovies but it was not described as such on the menu. Tasted like cross contamination, like the lettuce was rinsed with fish water. The parmesean crisp was inedible. The rib eye was overcooked and they served it with red skin potatoes instead of the rice like we requested. I had the "catfish" with grit cakes. That was definitely not catfish it was swai. My food was cold. The batter was thin and the fish tasted spoiled. The crawfish cream sauce was tasty just too spicy for me. The grit cakes hard and flavorless. Our server sent the manager over and I explained that the fish tasted spoiled she didn't care. She was like you read the menu it's yours now. You can order something else but you will still be charged for it. I have never had this happen. I was disappointed in her response. It wasn't that I didn't like it the fish was cold and tasted rancid. The few bites I took upset my stomach. She even asked if I wanted it boxed. No way. Will never eat here again.

We long anticipated coming and eating here. Finally on a kid free night we stopped in. Our server Will was animated and welcoming. We gave an appetizer and drink order right away and will disappeared for about 10 minutes then came back CHEWING saying the drinks were being made and did we want appetizers…we reminded him of our calamari order. When I ordered my drink the I-94 I was cautious because I didn’t know how it was served. The server had little knowledge but let me know I could have it on ice. when we finally got the calamari it was only about 7 pieces on a small plate. I didn’t like the drink and let the server know. He told me I couldn’t send the drink back but he’ll get a a manager. The manager came and literally argued with me about what was in the drink and my expectations and of course said she wasn’t doing anything about it but I could order something else in addition to… I never even asked for the manager and that made my experience even worse. What’s crazy is our food was actually delicious but my experience with the front of the house was so poor there’s no way I would return. ***eating the left overs I came across this in the fried lobster.. how is there so much hair?! Crazy that if I found this in the restaurant I know the manager wouldn’t have taken it off the bill.

First of all, I really do want to like this place, but given my experience tonight, idk.

First with the good - most of the servers were friendly and engaged us with playful banter. The musicians were also good - a jazzy top 40 band. And just the overall vibes from the crowd - it was packed and many people were there celebrating birthdays & anniversaries. The decor was minimalist & approachable and modern without being intimidating. The chair I sat in was 1000% comfortable.

Now on to the challenges. It was very hot outside (high of 91), and it was very clear that the AC in this establishment could not keep a comfortable room temperature. Everyone was sweating inside, especially the servers.

We had a 6:00PM reservation, and they were a little late setting up the table - no biggie. We were offered seats are the bar while we waited. The female bar tender working that night had 0 friendly vibes. Like, none. She asked us what we wanted to drink (we were not offered a drink menu). My wife asked her what they make with a certain liquor…and then the bartender just walks away and continues making the drink she was working on. Lol, what? Turns out she didn’t know. So the male bartender comes over to help her out, looks at the drink menu (we still don’t have drink menus) and tells her the speciality drink they make. Then he gives us the menu, and I order a drink too. The female bartender?…yeah…this clearly wasn’t her favorite shift, lol, and it showed. If I had the choice to tip, it would not have been 20%!

So then we get to our table, and are served promptly by our waiter. We are there with a large party and were told in advance we had to pay cash + there’s an automatic 20% tip. Not my favorite policies (especially the cash only part) but I get it.

Our table was served by two servers who clearly put orders in at different times. Half of our group got their orders, but the other half were told the kitchen was backed up and it would be a 15 minute wait for their plates. Yikes, ok. So those with food started to eat, and those without just sat there. And then comes my biggest issue..

My plate was an absolute no. Nuh uh. Naw mane. This ain’t it. I had a burger and asked for it medium. Of course it came back well done and it was SOOO SALTY. I couldn’t finish it and I’m pretty sure I saved myself from having a sodium induced stroke. The fries were also super salty too. I literally ate just a few. Our server never came back to check on us, but the other server asked the table how their food was and I told him that the burger and fries were way too salty and that I couldn’t eat it. He was basically, like “ah, ok.” No offer to make it right or order something else. Not even an apology. He just moved on to another table. By comparison, the Olin burger at the Olin bar in Detroit is the stuff of legend, and I will come back for that burger over and over again. The Savoy burger? I wouldn’t order that if it was free.

So I basically just sipped my water and watched others eat. The other half of the table got their food, and overall they were pleased with the food. My wife wants to come back to this place. I do not.

That said people do seem to like this place and it was packed. So maybe I just had an off experience. Oh well. I don’t live near this place, so there’s definitely no reason for me to come back for the food. Maybe drinks & vibes, but overall my experience tonight was disappointing and I don’t plan...

*A Night to Remember: Dining Delights at Savoy Restaurant *

Nestled in the heart of the city, Savoy is a hidden gem that offers not just great food, but also an unforgettable dining experience. From the moment I stepped inside, the ambiance wrapped around me like a warm hug. The doorman greeted each guest with a warm smile and an air of familiarity, instantly making the onset of my experience personal and inviting.

As I settled in at my table, I couldn’t help but tap my feet to the mellow tunes of the jazz band playing softly in the background. The rhythm provided the perfect soundtrack for an evening filled with delightful culinary discoveries. The warm lights and tasteful decor created a cozy atmosphere that set the stage for what would be a memorable dining journey.

Now, let’s talk about the star of the evening: the Catfish and grits. What a triumph! The dish arrived looking like comfort food on a pedestal. More than just visually pleasing, it was a symphony of flavors; the catfish was expertly fried to crispy perfection while the grits were creamy, rich, and seasoned just right. The grits were nestled in a crispy breading. It was evident that the kitchen had a true passion for crafting delicious dishes, as every bite was a testament to their skill. The portion was more than adequate, putting smiles on my face and the satisfaction of a good meal in my heart.

Service is a crucial aspect of any dining experience, and here, it shone brightly—thanks, in large part, to our waiter, Will. His attentiveness and playful banter enhanced our evening. He struck a perfect balance between professional and personable, ensuring we felt well taken care of without hovering. It’s refreshing to encounter staff who seem genuinely excited to share their menu favorites with patrons.

Of course, live music can make or break a night out, but the jazz band elevated the ambiance wonderfully. Their soothing melodies floated through the air, creating an inviting backdrop for our meal. I found myself swaying along, lost in the vibes, grateful for how they complemented the dining experience.

While I noted the 18% gratuity added to the bill, the exemplary service, delectable food, and enchanting atmosphere made it a detail that certainly dropped lower on my list of concerns. Returning to [Restaurant Name] is no longer a question; rather, it’s a promise I am excited to keep. Whether you're looking for a breezy evening filled with laughter or an intimate dinner by candlelight, this spot undoubtedly delivers.

In short, if you’re searching for a place that ticks all the boxes—delicious cuisine, exceptional service, lively ambiance, and captivating atmosphere—look no further. Make your reservations at Savoy; I’m already counting down to...

The waiter was very rude, when we asked about different dishes his respond was everything is good here. Well the vegan dish had no seasoning they told me they can’t season the vegan dish they can only put olive oil on it. I made a suggestion to add lemon on the side that would at least give it some flavor. The manager wanted to argue with me about that she said people may be allergic to the lemon. The waiter asked me to move I asked what’s going on he said I want to get those plates but I had no where to move to because I had to squeeze in my seat. So I stopped eating to get the plates the waiter said forget it I will get them and reached over my food to pick up plates off the table. When I guess it appeared we were done he came over with the bill for everyone. He did not ask one time were we good was there anything else he could get us, were we ordering desert he never asked anything. I gave him the bill with my card and so did my other family members, we he came back he gave the cards to the wrong persons. Again never apologized about his mishaps. To top it off this place is expensive I expect superb service and good food. Lastly my drink was 15.00 I ordered a Long Beach it had a dab of liquor but it taste like koolaid and I’m not a drinker, I did not have a buzz. Also I asked the waited do they have any vegan liquor he said no only steak and potatoes. I guess he did not know Tito’s is a vegan liquor ( because they sell that). The atmosphere is phenomenal the entertainment is great, but the service I received was poor and could use a lot of improvement. To top that experience off I called the next day to speak with the owner whom was not available so I got the manager. I explained to her what happened she said she knew who we were because she was watching everything. But when I explained my issue she wanted to go back and forth with me telling me none of the other vegan complained and was fine with the food. I made a suggestion about something they can do because my dish was bland with no seasoning at all. Then I explained the waiter attitude and delivery to us she then said why didn’t you ask for me I told her I did he did not go get her and I’m not the type to make a scene so I said I will call back to complain. Overall this can be a great place if the service is great. In my opinion Customer Service is King over all. That was my first and last time at this over priced rude waiters and confrontational establishment. I was very excited to go here but sad and disappointed...
