I had the pleasure and privilege of visiting Dewey Beach Delaware. Actually, I just returned home to Florida. During my visit I got to meet and experience the local people and enjoy the community off season. One of my “go to” places was The Dewey Beer Company on the corner of Salisbury and 1. Mind you, I never drank or liked beer. My friends told me it was a must visit place. So I went. This is a Micro Brewery with a waitstaff that is knowledgeable, warm, friendly and just plain nice! My first drink was an Orange Crush (vodka). The cheeseburgers and chicken nachos are AWESOME ! Beer wasn’t on my radar. After my second or third, fourth, fifth visit, not sure which, I was schooled in the types of beer and their flavors. The names of the beer was what got my attention. Berry Bounty, Cherry Cobbler Pie A La Mode, Baked Alaska, Sun Camp etc. Don’t be fooled by the names. I’m not a sweet drink person. After a bit of persuasion, I tried the Cherry Cobbler Pie A La Mode. Who doesn’t like desert. It was tart slight fruit undertones with a bit of beer flavor somewhere in there. I was in love. The alcohol content is a bit higher than your average beer; but there are so many terrific places around the area to walk to and visit you won’t have to drive. I am enclosing a picture of my last purchase at the Dewey Beer Co. I wanted to make sure my friends in Florida got to taste this amazing beer. Thank you to all the staff at Dewey Beer Co for allowing myself and Belle to enjoy your company. This is my refrigerator. I couldn’t add all the beer flavors; I needed room for a few food...
Read moreDewey Beer Co. is a casual spot brewing their beer their own beers to pair with a menu of elevated pub food. The interior is a cozy and crowded space with a rustic vibe. There is a small bar area with high tops to the left and an L-shaped dining area to the right. We visited in late September and it was still packed so anticipate a wait if you’re stopping by during peak times.
The beer list features about 20 brews which are exclusively an IPA is sour variant (there was one stout and a Pilsner). Each beer is available in a 5 oz pour, if you’d like to sample or make your own flight, or a full size. Honestly, the variety of beer may be limited but they brew some solid beer. We tried several IPAs and they were consistently juicy with a ton of character. The sours run sweet but are packed with flavor.
The food menu is loaded with options which range from small plates/apps to noodle dishes and sandwiches. We ordered the octopus lo mein and it was loaded with chunks of octopus and deliciously saucy. It was a little pricy for the portion, but I’ll chalk it up to paying for a unique option.
Overall, expect great beer (if you like IPAs and/or sweeter sours), a solid gastropub food selection, and rustic vibe. No games or sprawling space like some breweries, but they execute well for the space they have. One star deduction for the amount of time it takes for each round of beer. We waited around 5 min and that was standard with the...
Read moreWe finally tried this place out during this year's restaurant week and we were hooked. Unlike Restaurant Weeks in other areas, participating restaurants only charge $18 for a 3 course meal. For our first course I went with the Butter Beeriyaki Succotash w/Shrimp while hubby got the Mongolian Style Meatballs - both were phenomenal and things we probably never would have tried if not for restaurant week. For our second course hubby and I both got the Nashville Hot Honey Chicken & Waffle, it was delicious but the portion was a bit on the small side - about a 1/4 of a Belgian waffle topped with a chicken tender - the flavors were on point and the hot honey packed a sweet heat punch. For our third course we both went with the Churro donut - talk about a happy & sweet ending. The donut pieces are dusted with cinnamon sugar & chili powder and drizzled with chocolate sauce and served warm - ahh-mazing. Thank God the Churro Donuts & Hot Honey Fried Chicken are on their regular menu but they definitely need to add the meatballs and succotash shrimp. The staff is always welcoming and super friendly and while you're waiting for your food you can always partake in a little people watching as this place is right on the strip. Parking is at a premium in the area so if you're not lucky enough to score a spot in their very small "lot" please be sure to put money in the metered spaces or pay via the...
