Have been staying here off and on for years. Sadly it isn't the quality hotel it used to be. From lobby appearance it seems like it will be nice. But our room and the hallway to it told another story! The carpeting in the hallway had so many places that were buckled up; very dangerous and a couple of times we almost fell. There had to be numerous times there was some flooding and it caused this to happen. It smelled musty in the hallways but there was also a strong orange oil smell over it. Later I saw a cans of the spray in the area of ice machine. The ice machine was out of order 90% of time during our 4 night stay. Our room appeared alright but soon it was apparent that it was run down and not cleaned well. Things just aren't maintained well and kept up. Housekeeping over our stay was hit & miss in their work, and in the number of towels and glasses they left. Floors and nights stands were not cleaned well. The overflow drain in the sink was disgustingly dirty! Torn spot of wallpaper off one wall. Front desk help was also hit & miss, was put on hold and I'd have to wait probably 20 minutes to be transferred to another guest room because she had other guests at the counter. Seriously!! I finally hung up. Why not transfer me just then, doesn't it just take a few seconds? Or why not have enough staffing on a busy holiday weekend? Other strange things too. But we did have a couple of helpful experiences too! Had a very good dinner in the restaurant. Breakfast buffet was good but sadly ran out of the meats too early, and there was always mixed messages about it being stocked again! That drove everyone we saw in the place crazy. Coffee was good. We were very disappointed one day when we decided to order breakfast and have it delivered. First off no one answered the phone in the kitchen. It was 10:15 and menu said Breakfast was until 11:00 am. Finally my husband called the front desk. They put him through, he was told that the chef had just left and they couldn't fill our order of oatmeal, scrambled eggs, bacon and coffee. Why would the chef leave who apparently is the only one who can cook the meal if they serve breakfast until 11:00 am? We came here this time for my husband's 60th class reunion and most everyone booked rooms here because some of the get togethers were here. What we had in their meeting rooms were nice. I can see why they chose this place for it's space. I feel at this point in time that's about all it's going for it. Just isn't the quality hotel it was before sadly. We really expect a lot more in the...
Read moreVery disappointing stay, especially for a member of the Best Western family. I feel this hotel is trying very hard to be as frugal as possible, and it shows.
We were booked for six nights, and left after two, moved over to the local Hampton Inn.
We booked a king suite. First night I went to get in to bed and discovered the bottom sheet was torn. Not just a little hole; maybe the size of a silver dollar, and in a very immediately obvious spot. It was 11 pm or so so I just ignored it. I spoke with the desk in the morning, and they did have someone come to put fresh sheets on. I also noticed the pillow cases had thread pulls on them.
The "free breakfast" was hands down the worst we encountered in our three week road trip, which included six or seven different Best Westerns, so by the time we got to this hotel we had certain expectations that had been established. The hotel did not live up to them. Dried-out paper wrapped tiny burritos with overcooked egg and something in them (more tortilla than filing). No eggs, bacon, sausage, waffles, potatoes. Hot water for tea in a container that wasn't cleaned after it last had coffee in it and so the tea tasted of coffee. I'm not even close to describing everything.
The first day, after breakfast, when I went to the desk to arrange for fresh, non-torn sheets, I also mentioned the coffee-tasting tea water. The same problem happened the second day, and after breakfast I went to the desk and told the clerk we were checking out early and why. I told him it would be better to just shut down the "free breakfast" because what was presented was not up to Best Western standards, and he told me that it "met BW's minimal standards." He said the general manager ordered the very minimum for breakfast that BW would allow.
To his credit, the clerk was polite and apologetic, and in fact seemed a bit embarrassed. He's the reason this is a three-star review instead of a two-star one. He also did not charge us for leaving early (we had reserved for six nights), and gave us some bonus BW points as an apology.
Stay at the Hampton instead. We moved over there, and it was a much, much...
Read moreHotel looks grand but left us unimpressed. -Upon arrival we had to sign a waiver stating there's a $250 fee if caught cooking in anything other than the provided microwave. What's the point of a kitchen if you can't cook? -When trying to enter the room the keys malfunctioned multiple times before the door would actually unlock & open. This happened nearly every time we entered the room. -The room was a good size but was very dimly lit. -The bathroom was quite spacious but the vent fan did not work and the vanity still had soap residue from previous guests. -We were unable to enter the hotel using closest outside door to our room because it had a malfunctioning key-entry system. -While walking to the pool (which was a decent pool/hot tub area) we noticed someone had left something on a lobby chair. We attempted to tell the front desk but no one was to be found and there was no bell to alert them we were there. We tried again when returning to the room from the pool, but again, no one was around. -The next morning we arrived in the lobby at 8am for breakfast (served from 6-9) to find a nearly empty breakfast area. The only items available was cereal, a few cups of milk (not even enough for our family), some oatmeal packets, a handful of hard boiled eggs, yogurt, about a half loaf of bread for toast, a few cups of juice and the typical coffee. When we inquired about the lack of food we were informed they "ran out" without so much as a sincere apology. By the time our family of 6 grabbed enough to satisfy our morning hunger there was nearly nothing left for other guests. (Sorry sleepy heads!)
I paid more than I budgeted to stay at this hotel to leave rested yet unsatisfied. Based on our experience, I would not...
