You may want to stick to steak. We had a somewhat disappointing dinner there. We had made no reservations and it turned out they had just seated a very large party. We could see some tables available but were told they were reserved and were sent to wait in the bar area where someone would come tell us how long it would be before we could get seated. No one came to talk to us so after a while my husband went back to check at the front desk where he was told we could be seated in 15 minutes. It turns out we got seated at one if these open tables we had seen, where we could have been seated the whole time. I understand restaurants have to pace the load of the kitchen and the wait staff but we would really rather have waited seated at a table rather than standing in the bar. Once we were seated, service was very prompt and professional. I had an onion soup which was very tasty but extreeeeemely salty. My husband's mushroom soup was excellent. The house salad was okay but bery average (see picture) and the blue cheese dressing tasted like a cheap bottled dressing. My husband's caesar salad had a similarly average bottled dressing but he liked that the romaine was very fresh. We are not big steak eaters, and I chose a special salmon piccata over angel hair pasta, which was quite good (salmon was overvooked but the flavors were great). My husband made the mistake of ordering their chicken pot pie. It turned out to be a large plate of cream sauce with a few vegetables and barely any chicken in it, topped with two small round biscuits. The gravy was so heavy he had to take antacid pills as soon as we got home. After that disappointment we decided to skip dessert but saw some appetizing cakes being served at other tables. All in all, we probably should have stuck to steak which is what this place makes well, we've heard.

"We're gonna need a bigger to-go box..." ---- Do NOT listen to those 1 star reviews. This establishment was truly an awesome experience. Here's my pros and cons list for all of you who are looking for a Steakhouse. --- Pros: #1 It's a Steakhouse, so it's expected to be pricey, but the end tab depends on what you're ordering, as some items vary in price. There's some options that are $8.99, and some that are over $30. Our end tab for a Salad & Steaks was only $50. #2 Décor looks like someone went to Hobby Lobby on a Black Friday, but it still felt professional, I even dressed up, which is unusual for me, I usually kick it in shorts and a graphic tee for most restaurants. #3 The Restaurant may look small on the inside, but it stretches like a log cabin, if you're wondering why your food is taking so long, they're not only perfecting it, but they're also walking through a giant maze just to get to you. #4 The Food was F$^&#* amazing. Bring your own box though, cause their to go box's may not hold the enormous portions they give you. I didn't even have a steak, and my Chicken Steak Fried whatever was bigger than my forehead. #5 If you're giving this place 1/5 stars because of the waiters attitude, and not the overall experience, go home Karen, you're drunk. Our waitress was considerate and very professional. Asked multiple times if we needed anything at all, and even pushed the bread towards me when I said my partner has a gluten intolerance. #6 Take your special someone here for their anniversary like I did, you wont be disappointed. #7 Cold on a December or January day? This place will warm you up. ---- Cons: #1 The people who reviewed this place 1/5 stars.

If you’re craving some good old comfort home cooking while taking a trip through the mountains, give this charming steakhouse a try! They do not have their own parking lot but there is free parking lots a short walk away. Our reservation was later so we spent the wait checking out the area. Going in and out of lovely shops along the strip and sampling wine at the local winery. I would highly recommend getting a reservation since this place will fill up and book out. Even with a reservation the wait for our food was pretty long, it was a Saturday night so it was to be expected. We were given plenty of yummy house bread to hold us over and good drinks from the bar. The restaurant was cozy with a rustic yet homey atmosphere. Offering several seating options, an intimate indoor seating area, bar seating or a more open outdoor sitting area. The main dishes were good though the Fillet Mignon steaks were a hit and miss. My dad’s was cooked perfectly. However my sisters was not cooked evenly all the way through. One side was exactly as ordered, medium well while the other side ended up being very medium rare, bright red and dripping blood all over the plate. Our waitress was a gem though and very accommodating, giving us a discount on the bill. The rest of the food was fantastic though. The Boots Burger was so melt in the mouth tender and flavorful, the Shrimp and Grits was like a party in your mouth of rich flavors and the Black Forest Cherry Chocolate cake slice for desert was chiefs kiss. Overall would come back to dine again.

Went in to sit at the bar and have dinner. Bar was full. The lady at desk by door said sit here, at table in bar. I ordered a drink and waiter brought menu and bread. Another lady asked me how I got here. I explained. She was rude. She said I came in wrong door. If they want you to come in only one door, they should lock that door. When I came into the door by bar, there was a desk on right with woman there. When I saw no room at bar, she asked if she could help me. She said to sit at that table. Everything was fine until the rude (other?) hostess (or whomever she was) came through bar and saw me. She literally stopped and asked me how I got there. I had ordered a drink and had menu and bread came out… I felt very uncomfortable. Kinda like the uninvited guest showing up for the party, late! I paid for my drink and left.felt bad for the bartender, he was nice, as well as the lady who was by the bar door (not the other door I was suppose to come in). If you only want people to use one door- how about locking all the others?!?!!!! Maybe they’ve changed owners. Very strange…

Update to owner reply; I didn’t see a sign. I went in and woman standing at hostess stand welcomed me, and seated me.I did not seat myself. Bartender served me. It was THEN, that the problems began when ONE person (was it you?) came up and began the issue. Lock your door , put sign ON door and tell your employees to reject customers who enter. Unprofessional reply. No apology, no please return, no nothing except deflect responsibility. I see another 1 star comment from SAME NIGHT!. No admission that you could have been busy…nope- deflect responsibility. Hey, if you don’t care, why should your customers. Keep on treating people this way. I am glad I got up and left after bread and beer (which I paid for),instead of giving you $ and sitting in depressing environment. Attentive bartender had been by several times to get my order. I was kind of Preoccupied watching the chaos and drinking my beer and told Him I wasn’t in a hurry. Kind of hard to focus with chaos of the ONE chaotic person and business of bar/kitchen area. I can’t believe that little table would be a coveted table by back door and noisy kitchen area. A group was sat behind me, instead of main dining room where there were plenty of seats. I peaked around when came in. Main dining not busy. I grew up in business and had my own for over 15 years. I never treated my customers this way. This customer did nothing wrong. Nobody told Me I’d done anything wrong, until The one person (was it you?) began all of it. Even the bartender asked me what was going on. I said i don’t know. At the time, I didn’t, just that one person had chaos. Then it all seemed to unravel. The one person doesn’t want to take responsibility for the problem. Sounds like new...

Let me start by saying that 3/4 meals at our table were excellent. My Dad said the chicken fried steak was one of the best he's ever had. My Mom and husband had ribeyes that were incredible. The food at Boots is overall delicious. But unfortunately, my experience wasn't as great as the rest of my party. I ordered a filet meal - we spent all day hiking, I rarely get filet, and I love a good filet. I ordered the meat medium rare. The meal arrived and the filet was well done (barely pink) and chewy. So, at the encouragement of my party, for the first time in my life, I sent the steak back. I then sat for 20-25 minutes waiting for a replacement steak while my family cleared their plates. Eventually, feeling real awkward about the idea of making my family sit and watch me eat a steak while their food is long gone, I asked to cancel the replacement steak and to just pay for my baked potato and veggies. My Dad (a generally sweet, loving, older gentleman) asked to speak to the owner about our experience. That's when things got even more awkward - the owner came to our table and explained that everything's cooked fresh at their restaurant and it was reasonable for a replacement steak to take more than 20+ minutes to cook. She then looked at me and said "What do you want me to do?! Discount your sirloin?!" I'm not one for confrontation and honestly, I was really thrown off by such a strange, aggressive response from the owner - generally I would expect an apology and some offer of how they might make it right. Instead, she charged me $6.95 for a baked potato and a side of veggies...

As we sat there, we saw a few tables have similar experiences. Long wait times. Orders coming out incorrectly. One table across from us had their ahi appetizer delivered with a baked potato (they looked as confused about it as I was seeing it delivered). I really wish the service had been better and the owner hadn't been so aggressive because the food itself was overall great. Love supporting small businesses, but in this economy I can't recommend good food that comes with a pretty...

This restaurant gets a 10/10 from us! We were on vacation in Bryson City, NC for our anniversary but every nice restaurant around we found out was reservation only. (I say everything happens for a reason) Before giving up, I went on Facebook and read the reviews on any goor restaurant close and Boots was said to have the best steaks in NC! They were not kidding. My husband agrees! We called and the lady who answered was so nice, she asked how far we were. I said I can be h there in 25min! She said, I’ll have a table ready! Walked up to this GORGEOUS place and the lady was on the porch waiting! Sat us immediately at a beautiful table for two in the most relaxing atmosphere of a vintage dining room. Another lady came before I even got my jacket off and got our drink order, then as she was getting them, another waitress came to get drink order (phenomenal service!). Everyone was so nice and professional and looked like they wanted to be there (enjoying the night). We ordered crab cakes for an appetizer which came out plated like they won top chef on tv! Lol they were delicious! I got the filet with mushroom medley and my husband got ribeye with mashed potatoes. Both plates were by far one of the best dinners we have ever eaten! Those steaks were perfectly cooked and seasoned. Every plate that came out looked DEVINE, I wish I could have ordered and eaten everything on the menu! Our waitress, KELLY, was exceptional! She was very attentive, friendly and professional! The owner came over to chat with us after dinner was over and thank us for our visit and give us a little history on the restaurant. We are from Georgia, if you have ever been to the Sundial restaurant in ATL, this restaurant gives “Local, southern, sundial vibes.” Such a great experience that we will be traveling back to NC, from GA just to eat here again. Thank you all so much for the perfect...
