Sadly disappointed. It was during a visit from a family member over the holiday, and it was not busy in the restaurant. We went for dinner & there was a special for a trout quesadilla, which was like $18. A quesadilla is warm and the fish should have been as well, especially with the sauce that was mixed with it. I was brought out an ice cold unbaked tortilla with ice cold fish dip inside of it. It was cut in triangles like a quesadilla but it most definitely was not as it was listed on the board nor how the waiter described it. I told him the issue, & he said he’d check with the kitchen (didn’t even take my plate with him). He forgot to come back & only focused on his other table not far from us. I would kindly try to wave him over, but he never came. We never got refills on our drinks & I eventually had to go up to the bar to ask if I could talk to my waiter since everyone at my table was almost finished with their dinner & I hadn’t eaten mine due to it being super cold fish in what looked like a cold raw tortilla. A different waiter approached me & asked if she could help me, I asked again if I could please just speak to my waiter. She insisted on telling me that she is a waitress and that she can try to figure out my issue if I just tell her. Then a manager came out, walked past us talking, and went straight to the special board. After 5 minutes of the manager staring at the special board, not even approaching me, I decided to initiate conversation about it. She agreed that it was not properly described on the special board and then continued to say that they will not warm it up and it’s just the way it comes. I explained that’s not what a quesadilla is and why serve cold fish as a dinner when it specifically states otherwise. It would of been nice for them to simply warm it up on the grill since it was still in tact. I also told them that they forgot my cup of chili and refills on drinks, they brought out a whole bowl instead of a cup to try to compensate for the dinner mishap. It was unnecessary, especially since it wasn’t really up to par for chili & I was starving while watching my family finish their pizzas. I was truly disappointed and now feel like, as a local, that it’s unfortunate I don’t feel interested in recommending to eat there at this point in time. They should really, as a whole, put the considerate effort into working on customer service, and training their kitchen staff/floor team more often (perhaps staff meetings). Then again, the manager didn’t seem to care about the issue that night… considering she couldn’t just simply warm up my meal 🤷🏻♀️. With their menu on the higher prices, it’s just truly a shame. However, the decor...
Read moreWe had lunch on a Monday. There were only 4 tables being served and one server. We ate outside on the deck and the atmosphere was great! And, I noticed as we walked through the inside dining area there was plenty of nice seating there. The atmosphere and dining area are great!
Now to the service and the food. As mentioned there were only 4 groups being served. However, the service was very slow. If I hadn't had a granola bar right before going in, I may have eaten my friend's arm as we were waiting for our meal! It was extremely slow on this particular day.
Two of us got the "award winning" Sandwich - (this is from the menu) Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner Our "Award Winning" Sylva Art & Design Competition Chicken Sandwich- Breaded Chicken, Munster Cheese, Fresh Avocado, Arugula, House-made Blueberry Compote on a toasted Ciabatta bun. $13.00
Let me say, this was a good sandwich- Except - the breaded chicken was a processed chicken patty - like a giant chicken nugget! I was so disappointed! I mean even most fast food places give us a breaded chicken breast! What's the deal? It just felt like they took the cheap route on this sandwich.
One other person in our group had the vegetarian wrap. It was basically house salad ingredients with homemade humus. The humus was great! The rest, pretty basic.
And, the guacamole was described by our friend eating it as, "Guacamole out of a tub" - meaning, it was something not made on location.
So, this is based off of one visit. A lot of folks like this place and I can see why. They have a good location, nice space, live music, etc. But, for us, the lunch food and service was just meh.
May 2023- Update, went back to see a band I love. Tried a different sandwich and my friend had the hummus wrap. I'm sorry to say the food is still just Meh. I asked around to make sure it wasn't just me. Everyone I asked agreed. There was even one person who left to get food from another place nearby and brought it over to eat. The server was plenty friendly and the outdoor location is chill. I just wish the food was...
Read moreWe came in on the train and went directly to the Quirky Bird Tree house and Bistro. There were only two of us, so we opted to sit at the bar. We were greeted, but it took about 20 minutes before anyone got us a drink. They had just served the last drink my husband wanted because "no one remembered to stock the cooler". We finally got drinks and ordered two sandwiches - a BLT and a Cuban. 40 minutes later my husband made a comment about someone else getting g their food when they ordered 10 minutes after us. Our waiter who never bothered to refill out drinks noticed we had no food and went to check. Turns out he forgot to put it in, and then it was too late to start over and still make the train. He gave us our drinks, a lemonade and a beer, for free and we left. This place is so clearly mismanaged it's a wonder they stay in business. They are certainly not equipped to handle the rush of patrons coming from the train. Lots of patrons were standing at the bar trying to pay because their servers never came back by. Awful service. Can't judge the food because we never got any. Ended up having a BBQ sandwich...
