This is the second time I come here and each time is amazing! From the moment you open the door, the laundry decor is unique. We came here on Friday night at 8:30 pm and they had live music, which I loved. At first, I thought the music was too loud but the longer we stayed there, the more I found myself jamming to the music. The restaurant was also full, so there was a lot of conversations going which did not help the noise level. Nonetheless, as soon as I walked in, the manager realized I was recording and she immediately got into the video like a natural. I absolutely loved that. We were seated immediately and the manager introduced herself to us and told us who our server would be and if we had any questions, we can ask her. I liked this gesture and wished more restaurants would do it. Our server arrived at the table immediately and provided us some suggestions. Since we were a group, we thought to share various appetizers with drinks. To drink, I had the Machu Pikachu and it was delicious. It was made with tequila and it was a bit spicy but not overpowering. To eat we had charred pulpo, porkbelly, croquetas, dumplings, umami escargot, hen of the woods, crema catalana and timba. Everything was delicious but my favorite was the dumpling, which had oxtail and umami escargot as it was very flavorful. The main ingredient in the hen of the woods dish was mushroom but it was very tasty. If you don’t like mushroom, I would suggest to still try this as it didn’t really have the mushroom taste. The crema catalana is usually my go to dessert, but they changed the recipe and made it with coffee flavor. I’m not a coffee drinker but I enjoyed its unique flavor. Timba consisted of Maria’s crackers, cream cheese and guava. It was good but the crackers were not as crunchy. As to the service, the server was amazing as he kept checking in on us and ensured we had everything we needed. At 11:00 pm, they have their late night happy hour with loud music, which made the place more lively. You can find unique decor throughout the whole restaurants such as antique sewing machines, phone, lamps, piano etc that makes it special. I absolutely loved this restaurant for the food and...
Read moreThe wow factor began from the moment we pulled up in our car. The signage was deceptively clever! We thought at first we were walking into a classic dry cleaners.
After reading the website we were concerned that we hadn’t made reservation. But the host, Leo, did not make us feel uncomfortable, instead he immediately shared with us the advantages of sitting at the bar, and he was so right! There we met another amazing person, Yasmin, our overly delightful Bar Manager! We immediately felt at home! Coming from west Pembroke Pines we felt a little out of our comfort zone but she completely understood the assignment!! The drinks were amazing, the food did NOT disappoint and the vibe was soothing and uplifting!
Coming from the food and beverage industry myself, it was a real pleasure to see the community within the staff and how passionate they are about their craft.
We were impressed learning about the history behind this family owned business.
My husband had the pork belly appetizer, delish! I had the octopus, also amazing! For our main entree I had the Lomo with risotto and he had the Steak Frites with fries. For dessert we had the cheesecake with crushed Oreo crumbs and a layer of coconut, so yummy!!
Service was amazing! Not once did we have to wait for service! We are definitely making Amelia’s 1931 a monthly treat and we are recommending it to all our friends!
We are planning to check out the restaurant on Thursdays when they have live music! We’re sure it will be just as amazing!
Thank you for the amazing...
Read more3 out of 5 stars because I think I came on an off day there's obvious potential here. I believe the dishes are meant to be a fusion of Cuban/Latin dishes with Asian flares, but before I get ahead of myself, let's do positives and negatives. Let's start with the positives. 1) Although the space is rather limited, the decor and overall ambiance gives off a trendy/latin vibe in classic Miami fashion. 2)... . I really tried to find 3 things, but I'd be reaching at this point. So, on to the negatives. 1) Every dish was mishmash of overly and unnecessarily salty dishes (even the plain white rice was salty). 2) Our service was hurried (describing the specials and menu items so fast that even English sounded like Spanish, pouring water so fast it spills out onto our table every.single.time) 3) The infamous eye-roll made an appearance when my wife canceled a side order after it failed to come out with the rest of the dishes, but no worries, even after canceling the order our "attentive waiter" brought it out anyway and gave an Oscar winning performance feigning ignorance after he noticed both my wife and I looking confused. We took it anyway, paid for our meals, and even tipped the man hoping that in some small measure a kind gesture would take hold, mature, and blossom into something positive in this guy's life. As for me, I'll just leave it all out in this review. Our orders: Malanga tots Steamed buns-Korean bbq churasca Pulled chicken salad sandwich Korean bbq steak bento box Side of ...
