I want to share two unconfarble experiences I had on Eddas Cake design. 10 years ago, for my brothers birthday, I ordered an scuare cake looking like a gift box with a beautiful tie on top of it. When I picked it up it was too small for the amount of people I placed the order for. They explain they baked the cake taller to compensate the small size of it. Even though I was disappointed for the size of the cake I decided to take it and get out of the place without futher comenta. The other surprise was when my brother cut the cake and he couldn’t go deeper with the knife , it had an aquare flat piece of wood covered iwith aluminum paper and hided at the bottom of it. Wow. Making the history short , 10 year after I placed another order to surprise my brother and tried to forget what happened last time. This time I ordered a Cuban shirt ( Guayabera ) for 50 people to enjoy the party. The lady who attended me told me to reduce the amount to 40 people because of the size of the cake and because the glass where the cake was going to be on wasn’t there. It was ok for me and I finally put all my good wishes to the moment to where I was going to pick up the cake for my brother and you guys know what , it was a beautiful cake done so precise and plenty of details but too small for the ocasión. Again same mistake. I called back to talk to the store manager in Doral and Ronny , apologized for the size of it but again I had the same mix of feelings and blaming myself for what I had done. Two times same mistake in 10 years period. I recomend everyone before placing the order to ask about measurements of the cake so don’t get surprised when you see the cake of your dreams unexplicble too small at the pick up time. . 1/2 inch isn’t a normal portion of cake to eat at parties if you like eating cake , at least for me. I wish nobody else make the same mistake I did. There are other ways to make money, not to steal it and to please customer all the way across if you want it. At the end , we all are the one who support Eddas business up. Hopefully my complains help others. Thank for your time and good...
Read moreI "really" wish I could give them more than two (2) stars, because the girls that helped us were VERY nice! But what a disaster and major let down! We were celebrating my mom's 80th birthday and this was one of my gifts to her, in the past she has really loved these cakes...she selected her cake and filling flavor and we went in person to place the order...WITH a picture description of the colors and design we wanted! The cake wasn't ready when we arrived but not the end of the world! However what was supposed to be a pale baby pink was more of a neon pink...with what looked like a "copper" drip instead of a rose gold. I had also called after placing the order and requested they add frosting rosette's to the top in the center, and these were completely forgotten. The young lady that was helping us offered to re-do the cake if we gave her 30 minutes...done! I guess I foolishly expected that they would make it right and I have to say they did re-do it but it looked rushed and sloppy...my husband almost incited a mini-riot with other customers agreeing that "for what they charge we should absolutely get what we ask for!" Frustration got the better of me so I politely paid my balance and left, disillusioned and let down, but it got worse...later in the day when we did our thing and cut the cake I have to admit I was furious! My mother requested a cookies and cream cake with a strawberry filling...the cookies and cream cake I have to say was moist and flavorful but my biggest issue was that they used strawberry jam as the filling! Now, I have in the past made and sold my own cakes....in addition to purchasing a life time of cakes for members of my family...a strawberry filling does NOT come from a jelly jar, it's not supposed to ooze out the center of the cake when you cut it and certainly does not taste like it belongs on a piece of toast! In summation...I have to say I will NEVER purchase a cake from Edda's again, nor would I recommend Edda's to anyone I know...you'd be better off...
Read moreI've been a loyal customer of Edda's Pembroke Pines location for over 4 years, but unfortunately that location closed. So I decided to give the Doral location a try, which turned out to be a huge mistake. I called them on Wednesday morning and spoke to Madeline to order a specialty naked cake with decorations for Saturday evening, which she said was no problem. I immediately emailed her the photos of what I wanted and asked her to call me back to go over everything. She did not call back. So I tried calling the next day, but couldn't get through. I then sent another email asking her again to call me and noting I wasn't able to get through on their phones. Still no call back. I was finally able to get through that afternoon, but when I spoke to Madeline (who said she's the manager) she said in an arrogant tone that it was too late to order a specialty naked cake with decorations and said they don't call back customers because they receive too many emails. Then she said she could do a deluxe naked cake, but when I proceeded to give her my info the line conveniently disconnected. I immediately called back many times, but they never answered. Thankfully, I was able to find a much more reputable and professional baker to complete the cake and even deliver. I wish I had never waisted my time with this Edda's...
