Eddie's Place — Restaurant in Doral

It's a dive bar, deep dive, like from a board all the way in the stratosphere. Like that sky dive that guy took from the edge of space. Anyway, this isn't a bad thing. Lots of dive bars in town, and some are ok, you just need to be aware of where you are going, what the vibe is like, etc. I didn't know, so I wandered in. 1 pool table, but the people playing honor the system more or less. Four quarters gets you a game, but don't look for good space to stretch out and play, here you'll bump people as you angle a shot. They'll bump you. The karaoke across the room will either make you cringe or laugh. I did both. No smoking in the place. Saw a few people vaping. Girls with more tattoos than guys. Guys with more jewelry than girls. Lots of grunge, dinge, mange and dirty hairdos, which belonged to the men. The women looked clean by comparison. Very odd joint. Maybe college kids drift inside, maybe not. Judging by them not being able to read the lyrics off the monitors, anyone's guess goes. Music was loud. Place was packed to rafters. Old place but people looked happy. Some TV's, a u shaped bar and some tables. The prices were right about what one would expect for a bar, dive or not.

Security was this guy outside patting people down old school style. Checking purses and bags. I didn't mind. The man was courteous. Smoke outside all you want, no drinks, not even a water cup allowed outside. Saw some deals go down in bathroom, what's new? Happens in most places. It didn't bother me per se, but it didn't shock me either. Almost to be expected.

Overall the motley assortment of people of all ages seemed to get along. I can't say I had a bad time, just wasn't the place for me. Wouldn't go back personally, because it wasn't my element. If it sounds like yours, I...

like dive bars. There is something to be said about establishments that have been around for 40 years when in Brickell, for example, a place closes every day. It says that alcoholics are loyal, if nothing else!

My absolute favorite is Grady's in Fort Lauderdale but that is quite a drive for me so when I need my dive bar fix, this is where I go.

Eddie's Place has been there for over 40 years. Then entire shopping all was built around it. I think Eddie himself may not be around anymore but who the heck knows.

Things you need to know:

People are super friendly but you WILL NOT or rather, SHOULD NOT try to meet the man/woman of your dreams here. Just sayin....

Karaoke Night on the first Saturday of every month. This is good as you will ALWAYS sound like a star to the local drinkers that have been there since noon.

There are darts, a pool table, some "test your strength" kinda thing, and a super modern jukebox that has no business being there. Bring back the old kind for authenticity please!

Bathrooms are surprisingly clean. Cleaner than at many restaurants I've been to.

You will leave smelling like an ashtray and so will all your belongings so ladies, leave your expensive bags at home and invest in a huge bottle of Febreeze.

BAD NEWS: You may or may not develop lung cancer GOOD NEWS: The money you saved on drinks can go towards medical expenses.

So if you want a good, cheap, stiff drink in a dark, smokey, friendly environment, stop by!

The bouncer pushes immigrants down to the ground. For what? Not tipping for delayed and shitty service. I asked female bartender 3 times for a drink and she ignored. The male bartender took my order; took his money and then threw me out. I left the bar. The bouncer and the bartender pushed me down to the ground. I hope they realize what they did. At least the bouncer was an immigrant. Good luck shady bar. First time & last time. Maybe one more time to show you your place. A shady place. I wouldn’t want to hamper any one’s business but you guys deserve it! I literally told the bouncer “I hope you know what you guys did; remember when and how you got here”. And I saw it. THE GUILT.
