I usually enjoy First Watch, but this visit was not the best due to the customer service at the front. I had joined the waitlist ahead of time and when I arrived around 8:30 AM, the restaurant wasn’t busy (only about 15 tables were seated). Despite that, I stood at the podium for about 10 minutes without being acknowledged. There was no one ahead or behind me, and it felt like I was being ignored. When I was finally noticed by a blonde woman with bangs named Lizabeth, her demeanor came across as rude and nonchalant. She didn’t smile, barely greeted me, and just asked “table or Bar” in a flat tone. When I said Bar (since I’d never sat there before), she just replied, “then just go,” in a dismissive way. I’ve never experienced that kind of attitude upon walking into a restaurant, and it really set a bad first impression. Miss Gurl Lizabeth definitely needs some proper customer service training. Thankfully, my server Alexis turned things around. She was kind, attentive, and super helpful with the menu. I had wanted to try the new sandwich, but it wasn’t very vegetarian-friendly once customized. Alexis suggested another option, which ended up being delicious. Read moreI love first watch but today I had my first bad experience. I went around 10am and had a minimal wait to be seated. I did noticed a few empty tables which made me question why we even had to wait though. At side of that we get to our table and the server tells us he will be right with us but takes a bit of time. Finally he comes and the entire time he spoke to us it was a sales person talking instead of a server. He offered a bunch of stuff I didnt know they offered which you would think its great until you get the bill and realize he didnt mention that they had an up charge. We ended up spending over 10 dollars extra on stuff that should have been maybe 3 dollars total extra. We even paid for 2 maple syrup when we didnt even know there was a charge for it.
Outside of the dishonest server, I love the restaurant and the food. Typically its a bit cold in there so I made sure to wear warm clothes. Also parking is a bit tough at this location.
Before today I wouldve given the restaurant a 5 as I always had great service in the past. Now I'm curious if this was one bad server or a new policy they are using to...

This was my first time ever at First Watch... and was very impressed. The buzz is real. Excellent food quality; fast and friendly service; cool vibe atmosphere.
You can't go wrong with the avocado toast, a healthy well portioned breakfast dish that comes with 2 eggs. The grits with butter were amazing. Free refills on coffee and iced tea.
The staff was very friendly and quick in service. We received our meals about 10-12 minutes after ordering.
The dining hall and men's bathroom were clean as expected. Decor was modern, casual and crisp; neutral natural palette and textures. Music selection and volume was appropriate for dining; one can have conversation with other at the table without shouting.
