I came here on a Sunday morning and the place was full which is of no issue as I was expecting it but the wait for a table wasn't long. The food was quite pricy, I ordered the Latin Luka Burger and it was $21.95. The burger was a 4.4/10 as the pieces of pork don't allow you to just bite through the burger normally, you are forced to chew and chew until you break down the pork. I removed the pork from my burger and it was a lot better texture wise. The guacamole was a useless component of the burger as it didn't add any flavor and the burger tasted better when I scrapped a good amount of guacamole off. The patty itself was pretty tasty as well as the fried cheese. Overpriced and not worth it but had some good components. The coffee was delicious which is why I am giving it a 2 star.
The reason I am giving this a 2 star is because I was charged a fee called "service charge" which is 18% as you can see in the images. My party was a party of four. Our waiter only brought two cups of water and never came again to ask if we needed anything. The person who brought our food was a bus boy not the waiter himself. I was thirsty the entire time. So I am being charged a service fee for what? For people to bring me my food? I thought that's the whole point of a restaurant, why would that be anything extra? Then you are prompted to tip as well. It is something so ridiculous and out of control in this city that I don't get it. The guy came around once and yet we got charged $20 for a service fee. I wish I knew where the service was because I did not feel it. I had to ask for sauce to the bus boy because the main waiter only came twice, to take our order and to charge for our order. The food overall was mid, I tried the birria as well and it was mid. Do not recommend, it is over priced and the customer service is...
Read moreI absolutely love Luka’s. This review is not going to seem like it, but I am very critical when it comes to restaurants. I consider every aspect of the restaurant. Not just the food. This review also covers 4-5 visits dining in and 2 take out. The food is absolutely fantastic. I’ve ordered many different things. Appetizers, sides, entres, drinks. I have not eaten desert though. Everything I’ve ordered, as well as 6 different family members (different people on different visits) has been excellent. I have not had one item that I can make a complaint about. Which I think I’ve only had one restaurant in the past that I can say that about (a steakhouse in D.C). Can’t go wrong on anything. The service is actually what is so special. Every time we’ve come the service is absolutely incredible. For instance, this visit we had Elvis as a serve. He was so welcoming and warm. As was the person at the door. Elvis was also very tolerant while I practiced speaking Spanish and helped me with a couple new words. Thank you Elvis. He was also so attentive without being overbearing or annoying. I was out on a “date” with my wife. It was the perfect amount of service. I never had to ask for anything. If I thought “I may need more water” he was pouring it already. He brought a chimichurri sauce I didn’t even know I wanted. And I did once I ate some! I was about to ask for a box to go and he was like a magician, pulled it from behind him. Every visit was like this with other servers as well. I could not have asked for more. They all exceeded expectations by a lot. Additionally, the lemonades are simply addictive. I hope this helps someone make a decision to come here. My sister want to visit Miami again just to go to Luka’s. 5 Stars with not...
Read moreWe had a really disappointing and frankly disgusting experience at this restaurant—which is a shame because our server, Alejandra, was absolutely fantastic. She was warm, attentive, and one of the best servers we’ve ever had.
Unfortunately, we won’t be coming back due to a major cleanliness issue. While dining indoors, we were surrounded by numerous flies that hovered around our food and even landed on our arms, plates, and silverware. It was uncomfortable and extremely off-putting. I noticed flies inside the restaurant before the food even arrived, so you can only imagine how bad it got once the food was on the table.
At one point, I had to take my daughter to the bathroom, so I covered both of our meals with napkins. My husband stayed behind and took a photo showing flies landing on top of the napkins while we were gone. That really says it all. Gross!
We spoke to both our waitress and the manager. While Alejandra was apologetic and professional, the manager said it was a “seasonal issue” affecting the whole shopping center. Honestly, that excuse felt dismissive and unlikely—especially considering we were dining indoors in an air-conditioned space. I can understand that 1-2 flies can get in from the outside, but we were surrounded! I’ve never seen anything like it while eating indoors.
This was supposed to be a birthday dinner for my husband, and it ended up being memorable for all the wrong reasons.
We truly appreciated the service, but no amount of good service can make up for such a poor sanitary environment. It’s a shame because the food looked fantastic, but clearly we...
