This was the second visit to Ming's. The first visit was awful and I should have realized that although that visit had been before Covid, the people who run this restaurant are just the worst with NO TACT or social skills at all. The food is average. The portions are small. But the way they think they can treat customers is terrible. When I sat down the lady asked me what I wanted to drink and I said water. She said, "Water Water?" I said, yes. She brought me bottled water. What she should have said is, "Bottled water okay with you?" I kinda knew then that this tactic reeks of RIPOFF Strategy. I ordered Crispy Pork which was okay. I went up to pay at the register and there is a little sign that says, We charge a $1.00 more for every item you order, except appetizers. What a way to piss people off. Just raise your menu prices! I went to the restroom. I came out and I forgot to put my tip on the table. The older waitress stopped me and said, you give me tip. The lady at the register chimed in, you give us $2.00. Unbelivable!! I have never had any waitperson do this in my 69 years on this planet. I was going to leave a tip but I had a sinus attack in the restroom and was trying to back to being normal instead of coughing and hacking. I always tip. It is not an issue. BUT this kind of aggression and self righteous behavior is crazy. I gave the lady the $2 and just left without saying anything. God, I was glad to be...
Read moreMy companion ordered the curried pork on rice. A nicely done, medium-strength curry with a mix of pork and vegetables. The pork pieces were a bit on the fatty side, though.
I ordered the BBQ brisket on rice— brisket being my all time favorite meat. The BBQ sauce was pungent and tasty. However, the “brisket” was over 95% inedible, gristly, fatty, translucent tendon which was served on a thick bed of bok choy over some rice. I nibbled-off maybe a teaspoon’s worth of actual beef which was like unlike any brisket I’ve ever eaten.
In addition, the bok choy wasn’t mentioned in the menu description. Had it been, I wouldn’t have ordered the dish as I can't eat leafy greens. They inhibit the action of an important prescription I take.
All told, lunch consisted of the aforementioned teaspoon of stringy beef and maybe three quarters of a cup of rice, albeit with a nice sauce. Whole lotta money for one very small disappointing meal.
As I reluctantly paid the tab, my comments to the manager were blown off with a “that Chinese style”. Yeah, OK, cool. But an apology— if not a bill adjustment— would have been the right response.
Departing Ming's following our first— and you better believe it, last— visit, I hit the nearby Buford Highway McDonald’s drive-thru and scored a yum...
Read moreThe lady boss is incredibly rude. ( she act like the boss, maybe she is maybe she is not. ) Almost no concept of customer service. People are lining up to get their share of bbq pork / char siu There was no smile no greeting . " what you want ! . Not yet ! other people already ordered . Wait "
The other customer who voiced concern over his char siu is not yet ready was shot back " it's busy I cannot cut for you yet . If you want it uncut it's ready . No I'm sorry it will take couple more minutes The char siu is very sweet n overly cooked , crispy n more burned than I would like to . Good bbq pork / char siu ? If you like it sweet and charred with a side of rudeness.
The next morning we show up to pick up 8 pounds of char siu / bbq pork and 4 pounds of crispy roast pork the char siu is cooked differently . it is not as sweet and not as burned. and the lady is suddenly acting really sweet.
I can only give 2 stars for the initial bad customer service and varying quality of char...
