OD Crab House (Douglas) — Restaurant in Douglas

Stopped by around 7PM on 7/3/24. My friend and I are from out of town, and decided to give this new spot to us, a try for dinner. We were sat in the booth directly in front of the entrance with a speaker directly above it. The music was blasting with only 3 table sat and that included us. Thankfully the waitress lowered the volume so my friend and I didn't have to yell for our conversation.

Pros: Waitress was super friendly and checked in on us an adequate amount of time. She was definitely a 5/5. The place looked clean and unique. 1 appetizer and 2 basket meal with waters. Total price was around $35, and I consider that pretty affordable considering it's seafood and dining out.

Cons: Fried pickles & 2-piece fried flounder batter was soggy or not cooked long enough. Either that or it was left sitting out or maybe the oil needed to be changed.

Overall I wouldn't mind trying it again on a different night. Might be the equip, the cook, or maybe an off night in general. If you decide to go, try looking for grilled options. Overall...

Our friends love this place. Us how ever not so much. It's ok, I didn't hate it. I had a double order of shrimp, flounder and French fries off the fried platter. The Flounder was way over cooked. Flounder should be flakey and crisp, not crunchy and parts of it was... very crunchy. The shrimp was very bland. The fries were really good. The Hubby had the #52 which was crab legs, oysters, sausage and shrimp, potatoes, corn on the cob and a boiled egg something a kin to a low country boil. He was not impressed. He said it tasted like old bay that's it, just old bay but it was supposed to be a Cajun seasoning. I dk, maybe we are just spoiled when it comes to seafood but when you are paying that much for food it should be cooked correctly and it should be at least good. A year and a half later I still give this restaurant 5 stars. Quick service, well seasoned, quality food and a clean restaurant. The exterior was clean this time. We will be back. DOUGLAS you are Sleeping on this amazing seafood.

Walking in OD crab house the exterior had me concerned. There was trash littering around the front entrance, which almost caused me to leave. Instead, I wanted to make my decision based on the inside. The inside was clean. We ordered hush puppies, a low county boil and a create your own. The food was packed with flavor.
