I want to let everyone in Douglas/Coffee County know that I attempted to eat at Peking House last night. Here's what happened: I ordered the buffet. There was very little out (it was around 8:30 on a Friday night and there was enough customers to need to continue putting food out). The Lo Mein noodles, which I love, were mushy. Everything was cold. The chicken was hard. The egg drop soup tasted funny(which I will tell you why in a minute). Even the desserts were not good. I'm really not one to complain in a restaurant, but this was awful. The service was barely service, barely getting drinks(we had to wave down a waitress) after being there over 5 minutes and having no service during our short time(which is beside the point, this isn't the complaint). Upon closer inspection, the ceiling was leaking over the soup and donut area. One donut was out, and looked soggy. You could see where the rain water was coming from. The ceiling has obvious leaks for some time due to the brown spots on the ceiling over the food area. I believe this is why the soup tasted funny, as stated above. We fixed our plates, tasted the items, but could not eat anything. When we complained, the answer to the leak was it was not leaking where we said but over another section of the buffet area. We refused to pay for food we did not eat. We paid for our drinks, which were never refilled, and one plate because we did fix out plates and taste it. The Peking House used to be such a wonderful place to eat, one of my favorite. I will never eat there again because of safety reasons. I urge everyone to be careful, the food needs to be at certain temperatures to prevent food poisoning, as per health dept codes. It was a horrible experience. I left hungry, and went somewhere else. It's been about a year since me and my family has come back to this peaking house and let me warn you it is definitely not worth it everything was cold and hard the fried cheese you could throw it and hit somebody and hurt them everything they had put out on the buffet was old I will never come back again I do not see how they are still in business it has went from bad to worse for me and my wife to eat here at Peking House was $46$!!!!! And I am hoping and praying we do not get sick this place is terrible the health inspector needs to come and take a good look you cannot walk around to get food without slipping and sliding all over the floor because of Grease being all over the floor I am surprised how bad is actually got save your money go somewhere else trust me you don't want to...
