I’m rating 2 and not 1 because the food is actually amazing. I don’t think I’ve ever had bad food from here. My gf and I do sushi Fridays and this was our go to spot….unfortunately until an incident where they got the order wrong. Things happen, people make mistakes, but what was unforgivable was how they handled it.
I had ordered chicken yaki soba, which is basically fried noodles. What I actually got was another thing on their menu which was called chicken yaki. These resemble chicken skewers. Ok completely honest mistake, and the similarity between the 2 names, putting myself in their shoes, I probably could have made the same mistake.
When I called soon after picking up my order to ask them to rectify the situation, the employee on the phone sounded annoyed and was very rude. I asked her very nicely to make the correction and to make us a yaki soba, I was told no problem and 20 mins. I realized their mistake while in their parking lot so this wasn’t a biggie, I went to a nearby store and killed some time. After almost 30 mins, I went back in and asked for my corrected order of yaki soba. I was then told that the kitchen hadn’t started it yet because I hadn’t paid. I explained that I didn’t think it was right that I was being charged for their mistake and that they told me that it would be ready 10 mins ago. Out of principal, I told them not to worry about it and I left
Unfortunately I will not be back. My gf and I were regular customers that went religiously every weekend, sometimes multiple times a week, and to be treated like that over $10 after all the business we gave was unacceptable. We have been weekly regulars for almost 2 years! The food is very expensive but worth it for the quality, which is what kept bringing us back. I can’t justify returning after that.
If management is reading this and wants to offer a sincere apology and give me a free order of yaki soba, I would consider returning. I will edit my review if they make this right. If you don’t see an edit, assume I was ignored and that IKKO didn’t do anything to resolve this. As I said, great food, but highly disappointed with this situation. Since then, My gf and I have found another sushi spot for our...
Read moreThe reason for 1 star is cause on Saturday May 11th 2019 was my junior prom. I took my boyfriend out to eat for dinner cause the prom place didn't have much of what I liked or would want to eat. We walk on with our prom outfits on, my boyfriend in a black tux and me in a dark blue almost black at the bottom which poped out softly with embroaded with white crystals and my makeup done nice and my heels on anyways getting off topic. We did the hibachi meaning they cook in front of u. I ordered the steak and chicken with fried rice. My boyfriend ordered the chicken and shrimp with fried rice. My steak was cooked medium rare so it should have a pinkish color in the middle but as I was cutting mid way into my steak half of it was red... almost raw. The chicken I found chewy and the fried rice after my 4th bite i felt I was gonna get sick and throw up... my boyfriend had the same problem with his rice to. He also found the chicken chewy or not cooked right. After we ate I went to the powder room (bathroom) after i came out of the bathroom and went outside. The payment was done with my credit card and I didn't have any money on me for a tip. I'm sorry but when the fried rice tasted extremely funny with us and the chicken was chewy or not cooked right I wasn't gonna give them a tip. When we walked outside not even a saw feet from the restaurant outside the owner chases us out and say hey everything alright and we didn't want to be rude and say mean things so we said everything was fine... why? He said well u didn't tip us and u know my waitresses make a living off tip and everything so it would be nice to tip them I said I'm sorry but everything was payed for by my credit card so I don't have cash on me. He meaning the owner guilt tripped me and my boyfriend to giving them a tip and that was surprised to be used for gas money or to pay for prom photos. I was so irritated I wanted to just say I don't want to tip u guys so go back into ur restaurant and have a nice day. Honestly I wouldn't go back to that place cuz no owner should chase out customers for a tip. Sincerely 2...
Read moreWe visited for my boyfriend’s birthday based on a recommendation, but both the food and service resulted in a one-star review. I have a severe food allergy, so I made sure to inform the waitress and asked for my sauce on the side. Despite confirming this with her multiple times, my roll arrived with spicy mayo. When I told her I couldn’t eat it with the sauce, the staff’s visible frustration made me uncomfortable. Since they were only a couple feet away from our table, I overheard a different waitress, a blonde Asian woman, mocking me to the manager. While I understand how stressful restaurant work can be, this felt extremely unprofessional. I would go as far as saying it was hurtful as I did take measures to directly avoid this situation, and it is not something I can control. I did try to address the manager as the waitress was talking about me, since he was looking directly at me, but he ignored it, and walked away. We were left to eat in a pretty awful mood.
The sushi itself was disappointing. With the bad service, we were hoping the meal would make up for it somehow. But the fish had absolutely no flavor, which typically indicates poor quality or improper storage. The rice was undercooked, and thinly rolled, and the seaweed had no flavor or body. Overall, everything either tasted off or had no flavor. I've had grocery store sushi that was better. My boyfriend said it was the worst sushi he's ever tasted, which was especially upsetting since we went here to celebrate his birthday. The hibachi steak, which was ordered medium-rare, came out well-done, but we didn’t address it, as we didn't care to create more issues. After tasting the sushi, we decided to cancel our to-go rolls. Only then did the general manager approach us, and while he handled the situation well, it could have been addressed much sooner. Even then, it seemed as his main motive was to have us take home the extra sushi, but we refused. There was no point, we didn't even finish what was on our plates. We will not...
