Last weekend my girlfriend and I popped into Papa Gino’s for what we hoped would be a quick but tasty lunch before we went grocery shopping at Hannaford’s.
When we showed up, there were no other customers. We approached the counter and noticed that there wasn’t any cashier at the register. We figured they were using the restroom, or busy getting a few supplies from out back. We waited 5 minutes and still no cashier.
We noticed there were two employees in back - one making pizzas at the pizza station, and another guy manning the grill. We could see them clearly and they noticed that we were waiting to have our order taken. We waited another 5 minutes; still no cashier and the two guys in back didn’t budge from their stations.
We waited another 5 minutes. Still no cashier and neither gentleman even acknowledged our presence. It was clear that one of these gentleman was also responsible for taking orders and ringing them up, and yet neither of them could be bothered to take our order and ring us up.
It was at this pint that we got fed up and I shouted, “You just lost out on some business!” as we exited the restaurant. This experience was incredibly frustrating and insulting. How much effort would it have taken to say “hello” and “someone will be right with you”? We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past and had positive experiences and frequently order takeout from this location with mostly positive results. This was as bad an experience as you could have.
By the way, I worked for Papa Gino’s decades ango when I was in high school and May old manager would have fired me on the spot if he learned I treated customers this way. I have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and most of the customer service I have received at various locations for decades. I hope these two employees will rethink how they treat customers in the future and treat them the way they would like to be treated when they go out to a restaurant. We’re willing to give this location another chance, but if we’re treated as poorly as we were last weekend, we will be giving the Pizza Hut just up the road...
Read morePizza is just okay. This location is by far the worst service of any pizza place I have ever ordered from. On a normal Wednesday night at 5:30 PM there were about 5 people waiting for pickup for more than 20 minutes next to me. The kid running the phone took about 3 minutes to handle each call and didn't understand that he was working at a pizza place. They told us 25 minutes for our pickup and it was ready at 45 minutes. They were telling people an hour and a half for delivery. On a Wednesday night... Maybe on a Friday night? Come on.
6 or 7 people behind the counter, 4 of them not doing anything. Dude pulls breadsticks out of the oven into a box, then walks all the way across the kitchen to get two marinaras each time +30 seconds to each order. Just put a small fridge with Marina next to the boxing station. Zero sense of urgency in any employees. They jsut don't Care. Location is messy. Kitchen doesn't look clean at all. Lots of clutter. Saw the dude use the same cutter for regular pizza as gluten free.
