Lemont Street Cafe — Restaurant in Downers Grove

So, we were somewhat in a hurry this day, but decided to stop by Lemont Street Cafe, being we were shopping in the area. I have to say, definitely one of the Absolute Worst meals. I had the bacon avocado omelette, which had a combination of what appeared to be fried and barely cooked bacon, which was truly terrible. Add to that, the obviously fresh out of the frozen freezer box hash browns, making it as awful as it gets... Plenty of better places to go for breakfast folks... Definitely Skip This One!!!!!!!!!!!! Meanwhile, the 'Response from the Owner', was quite laughable. The usual, 'could've, would've, should've', instead of making sure the meal was right The First Time... And, indeed, as I thought, the hash browns were fresh frozen, but apparently I was suppose to read into someone's mind regarding that. And, of course, no mention of the raw bacon omelette. But yet, they hope I can try them again in the future??? You Have Got To Be Kidding ME!!!!!!!!!!!! Just a suggestion to the owner. Perhaps next time don't embarrass yourself by replying back with such nonsense... I wasn't born...

One of the worst experiences I had for breakfast in a long time. Ordered drinks with extra ice and got regular ice in glasses and a glass of ice. Then we had to wait for the waitress to take our order. When we finally got food she brought out something totally wrong for one order and only half of the second order and she said she didn't know what the cooks were doing. So the one order got sent back to be fixed meanwhile the other order was getting cold due to not having everything and waiting for the food to be brought back out. So then they just add the missing part of the order and slop the old stuff back on and bring it back out. And then was still waiting for the last of the second order. So then we choke down lukewarm food and once we finally get the check and go to pay the person at the register doesn't even bother to ask about the food because she was right next to us when we had to send it back. And did they have the decency to take off anything nope. So buyer...

Had a very pleasant lunch here October 2018. I had a garden salad and a bowl of chili. Chili was tasty and nicely seasoned without being overly spicy. If you like a bit more kick they have Cholula and Tabasco right at the table. Garden salad was a mix of iceburg and dark greens with carrots, red cabbage, red onion, black olives and good selection of dressings. My wife had a tuna melt and fries, which she liked. She gave me her cole slaw, which was the larger cut cabbage and not smothered in cream - it was very good. So we were pleased with all the food, and the prices were quite reasonable. Another thing we liked is they left us carafes of ice water and iced tea right at the table so we did not have to wait for refills. The hostess and server were very pleasant. We had no...
