The good: the food and service. Got a gyro with everything on it, very good all around. One of the best gyros I've had in quite a while. Also came with fresh cut fries, which is always a big plus in my book. Service was quick and friendly.
The not so good: the prices. $16 for a gyro, fries, and a drink?! The gyro was tasty, but I've paid a lot less for gyros that were almost as good since I visited this place. Also, this location is right around the corner from Downers Grove North high school. I dunno if it's like this every day, but when I went around 4 PM it was swarming with kids, presumably from that school, who let's just say were some of the strongest arguments for birth control that I've seen in a long time, quite frankly. Without those kids, the atmosphere would've been fine, but on my visit, it was awful. Obviously that's not really the restaurant's fault, but it's a flaw of the location all the same.
Will I be back? Probably not, truth be told. Even without the kids, my wallet did not like those prices. If I'm in the area and want a gyro again, I'll go to the Mr. Submarine further down the road. It's a lot...
Read moreFor some reason the Scoobys in Bensenville to me is better than this Scooby's restaurant something about the taste of the Polish is off and they're pretty expensive as far as drinks I mean they really charge for bottled water $2.20 even though they're probably get it for $0.50. Their overall meals are about $8 to $9 for the combo. They don't have restrooms which is the same thing as the other ones. I also didn't like their gyro kind of dry and the chicken sandwich was different from the other Scoobys in Bensenville. They don't serve the same thing as far as menus and specials because the restaurant in Bensenville I have specials each day Monday I have specials each day for cheaper price. Another big thing is that they're not as friendly as though employees in Bensenville even the owner in the Bensenville location is friendly approachable here not so much. It is kids friendly and they do have a dining room area and...
Read moreToday, 08/12/24, I left Scooby's at approximately 11:45 with a Gyros and small fry totaling $14.34. I usually go there and have a great experience but not today. Most establishments cut the lamb right off the spit and prepare the sandwich, Scooby's cuts it prior, which is fine and places it on the griddle to reheat. Today they burnt the living hell out of the lamb and well overheated the pita, after taking a few bites out of the sandwich and realizing it was not really edible, I elected to dispose of it along with the fries since they were undercooked and not like the Scooby's reputation. I hope the owner has the opportunity to review this and make the appropriate changes so other customers don't have this disappointing experience. As Americans we try hard to support our local businesses and work for our income but in this case, it was...
