I ordered a medium cheese pizza, got viciously I'll over night. I was throwing up chunks of what ever kind if thick white cheese they use. I called first thing in the morning to speak with a manager the guy who I now know is Rino answers, I say politely "Is there a manager available?"He says. "Who'd like to know¿" so instantly, I know that this isn't the most professional establishment, and obviously someone's running from someone. Otherwise, why would you be paranoid about who wants to speak with a manager? Anyhow I tell them about my situation he immediately gets an attitude tells me to bring the pizza in when I brought the pizza in he starts to debate me about how if I'm sick everyone else would be sick opens up the the pizza stove insists that it's me that I was already sick and to do him a favor don't come back again to eat there. At that point, I was like wow, I told him I'm not here to insult, you don't take it personal, I'm just telling you my experience he gave me my money back and told me a Riva Darcy.what a poor human. So miserable he couldn't be compassionate about someone getting sick. Would rather blame the customer to not return. I I gladly I would never return for that basic Italian food. Don't go there. He's obviously prejudiced and racist because had I been white, I would have been told to...
Read moreLet me give you the most honest review, The guy who owns the place doesn't like to be critisized! I had recently moved to LA 3 years ago and stopped in for my first pie slice at Pina 🍕. To my suprise I could have sworn this was a "ITALIAN" restaurant! The pizza made on a conveyor like a Domino's Pizza or little ceasars is my First major issue. 2nd is most ingredients are canned or frozen. 3rd the pizza looks like Bread with cheese. Lastly the nerve of this guy when I asked him why his prices where rediculously over priced. And how Italians and Sicilians made pizza affordable for families because the hardships our people went through. Pasta also was made affordable. A pie should never cost $25-$40 unless it's Brick oven pizza and gold plated cheese with red whine sauce. Don't eat here it's not Italian by any means. We Sicilians and Italians put love In our food it's never bland and over priced. Water downed Italian, Americanized owner and recipes and using a Italian name and theme with a Italian dish names on the menu. But this restaurant gives we Sicilians and...
Read moreWe could smell the pizza from the Speedway across the street while in Downey recently. I was like let's check out the Pina Pizza House and Banquet Room so we went over and got a late lunch. The people are all really nice! When dining in, there's warm bread with whipped butter. The bread is so chonky and delicious! We ordered pizza, seasoned fries and an eggplant parmesan sandwich. The fries came first and we ate almost all of them haha: they were crispy and it was a really large quantity! The individual cheese pizza was so delightful! Crispy but fluffy and substantial crust, tasty sauce in the perfect amount ratio to the cheese, which was just right! Eggplant parm was like a baby's arm seriously, just heavy and fat! Really good bread, the same tasty sauce, well-breaded and fried eggplant plus A LOT OF CHEESE. If I lived in or near Downey I would order from here all the time! It is especially cute that this place was established in 1959 and is still owned by the younger members of the same family that first opened it. I love...
