Mariscos Choix — Restaurant in Downey

This rating is solely for the customer service. I’ve been coming here and overall it has always been a good experience except for the last two times I was here. Last time we were here my boyfriend had to be getting up to ask for utensils, more lemons etc. Even though I was dissatisfied with the service I gave it another chance because I thought maybe the waitress was having an off day or she was new, but today the same thing happen they’re usually really busy, but today not so much, as soon as my boyfriend and I walked in we sat down they brought the tostadas with salsa and that was it. We waited for about 20 min and I saw 2 of the waitresses looking at us , but not one came to take our drink order at least. My boyfriend had to get up and ask a guy if he could send someone to take our order. We thought ok after waiting 20 min without even our drinks now they will send someone. Well that didn’t happen I had to ask a second guy who is cleaning the tables to send someone. When he told one of the waitresses ( I wish I would’ve taken their names) she simply said that’s not my table. After that I would say by this time 35 min of waiting the waitress finally came to take our order. She brought my boyfriends drink, but I had to wait another 10-15 min for my drink. We had get up to ask for ketchup because the one in our table was empty, all while I saw how they would go to other tables just not caring if we needed anything. I am a firm believer that customer service is very important and good customer service is what brings customers back. At this point I will not be coming back to eat here and I do not recommend it. Upon arriving on a Tuesday at 2 o'clock, my party and I had to wait over 15 minutes to be seated, despite the restaurant not being busy. Once seated, the service was slow, and it took a considerable amount of time to place our orders. Additionally, I observed that the timing of serving varied, as some patrons who arrived after us received their food before we had all the items on our table.

I noticed discrepancies between the menu pictures and the actual presentation of the dishes. Specifically, the Aguachilles appetizer was not up to par. The salad on my plate was poorly assembled, and the shrimp portion seemed small for its price. The rice was cold, and the beans were barely warm, negatively impacting the overall dining experience.

I also wanted to bring to your attention the issue with the chips served with the salsa. The tostadas were excessively hard, making me question the quality of the chips for a Mexican restaurant.

I believe addressing these concerns could significantly enhance the overall customer experience at Mariscos Choix. Improving aspects such as quicker seating, prompt service, and ensuring dishes align with their representations on the menu would contribute to a more positive impression.

One word... AMAZING, HIDDEN GEM! Ok, maybe that was 3 words but I couldn't say anything less. I'm In town on business. Saw this place while I was driving to my hotel. Online menu looked good. Came by myself. I was treated as if I was in a party of 12!! Food was AMAZING! Waiters, and waitress.....yes, I had 5,, making sure I was good throughout my meal. So attentive and never felt like they were trying to rush me out (even though I was taking up a table for myself during early dinner time). Had an amazing drink. Pink mojito type. Ate the pulpo and cameron tostada (soooo good) and the camaron plancha was excellent! (Apologies if misspelled). So many more items I want to try!! Music was on point. Not too loud and they were good. I am making it a point to come back and bring my family while NOT on business. Yes, I will make the drive. Well worth it. Can't forget the girl who welcomed me in and sat me. Asked about my day. When I left, she asked me how everything was! I told her it was great. She told me to have a good evening and if that wasn't enough... the security guard in the front on the sidewalk told me to have a good night and said I hope you enjoyed yourself here tonight. I HAD to stop and tell him it was amazing and I'm coming back. He told me "bring your friends". I told him I would AND my family! He asked how I found the place.
