This restaurant should really bill itself as a Tapas and drinks bar rather than a restaurant.
The food was decent. The mixed drinks intriguing. Still, the pricey portions were tiny. The small plates were smaller than most appetizers in other more upscale restaurants.
Our first command, and I mean command, from the waitress was that the chef suggests that we order two plates each.
Likely that is because the portions are so meager. Seriously they were: "please sir may I have some more" Oliver Twist sized portions. Would Charles Dickens approve?
The second command from our waitress was that the food is MEANT to be shared. It was said with a stern look as if those who refused to oblige this egalitarian concept would be banished.
Really?????
I am very fussy about my food. Also being a vegan, I have very limited foods that I can eat in most regular restaurants. I also have an adverse reaction to people sticking their forks in my plate.
So with that command "to share," firmly in embedded in everyone's brain, my date and the other couple that were with us, were able to share my food.
I however did not share their food choices because I am a vegan.
Therefore, I ended up with very little left to eat.
The other extremely annoying aspect of this restaurant, is that there were no serving spoons that came with the small plates that were supposed to be shared.
As a result people were sticking their forks into other peoples' plates.
Gross, particularly in the era of Covid 19.
I am confused about why people give this place 5 stars. It is not small and homey, as some describe, It's more like small, close and tacky.
The waitresses need to be trained differently too. They were extremely intrusive.
They several times interrupted intense conversations my table mates and I were engaged in, to self promote some food, drink or dessert on their menu. They were probably told by management to behave that way.
They also asked odd questions, throughout the meal such as: "Are you hungry?"
The service seemed extremely rushed, too. I felt as if I were eating in a diner rather than a nice restaurant. My impression was that the concept for this restaurant emerged after a bunch of people got together and said "hey kids, let's start a restaurant."
Upon being seated, we were NOT given time to order drinks and then settle in to peruse the menu. Everything was expected to be ordered at once, except for dessert.
When all the small plates arrived, the over abundance of plates caused the table top to be extremely crowded, too.
Oh and let's not forget the dessert....,the dessert, reminded me of a frozen toaster pastry filled with applesauce accompanied by a stingy dollop of ice cream plopped on the side.
After eating only half of the not very tasty, falsely named apple pie, and while trying to enjoy our coffee along with some stimulating conversation. The intrusive waitress and the hostess kept whooshing by giving us the type of look I can only describe as suspect.
It was not a welcoming look that said, do you need anything else? Another drink, perhaps, a clean napkin? More cream, maybe, or another cup of coffee???? Nor were any of those questions ever posed by the waitress or the hostess.
Instead it appeared to be a series of micro-expressions that seemed to scream hurry up...get out!
The constant barrage of those looks, made us uncomfortable enough to get up and leave, before finishing our coffee.
If you are looking for a pleasant dining experience with a relaxing, non-rushed atmosphere and a food menu that enables you to leave feeling as if you actually ate dinner, rather than a snack...then do NOT CHOOSE Honey.
Also, if the idea of other people jabbing their forks into your plate of food, makes you squeamish, in the era of Covid 19 variants, I would pass this restaurant by.
I will not be going there again. I weigh 110 pounds and I am not a big eater. Still the plates were too tiny, even for someone like me, who enjoys...

Tonight was my first time at Honey and let me just say, from start to finish it was an absolute pleasure. The atmosphere is incredibly unique, with real Mediterranean and Asian vibes mixed with some modern twists. It was incredibly clean and just felt comfortable. Jason was our host/server/knowledge-base. There's a man who is unbelievably knowledgeable about the product he's bringing to you, which is enough in and of itself, but goodness he was so much more. You could tell that he truly enjoyed his work and took pride in it. His face lit up in a special way when I told him how much I enjoyed my meal and it was the spark of someone who's truly passionate about something.
As wonderful as the human interaction was, I cannot over-emphasize how much greater the food was. Again, I'm not a foodie and I really don't know much other than what I like, but holy cow the food was incredible. Each dish felt crafted with so much love and care and every ingredient in the dish was paired with the others in such a way to compliment and highlight the individual flavors without any one overpowering the others. The chef clearly cared as much about his craft as Jason cared about his. It's a unique and powerful experience that's often lost in this fast-food, mass-produced world. They've got cocktails as well, and as I understand it, the husband is the chef while his wife handles the drink creations. I'm not as big on mixed drinks, but I really enjoyed that too. Again, the flavors just seemed very intentional and hand-crafted.
The one downside is that the dishes are rather small and a bit pricey, so be prepared to get several dishes (we had 7 entrees for 3 people) and spend a bit more money. But when I tell you that it was absolutely worth it, I mean every word of it. Though the dishes were small, I certainly did not leave there hungry. Both my tongue and my stomach were very satisfied. I live about an hour away, but I would (and absolutely plan to) go back and try more of the dishes there. I really cannot recommend this place any more highly. It was...
Read moreIt was date night, so we wanted to enjoy the food at a good pace to enjoy our time without being rushed out of the restaurant. Here’s our experience. Scott (our waiter) guided us through the menu giving us a couple of suggestions that we later decided to follow. To drink we had a couple of glasses of Chardonnay (my wife went with a Fleur and I opted for a “Mimi”), both really good in quality and balanced in flavor. Being a tapas style place don’t expect big plates that will overwhelm your taste buds but be prepared to experience a mix of flavors. Here are our choices:
Truffle and smoke potato chips: you can taste the truffle and the Parmesan fondue (reasons why we chooses the plate) and it’s a great dish to have as a first or in between two complex ones.
2.Risotto cakes: despite being served in the sauce the breadcrumbs coating of the rice cake was crunchy and light (couldn’t taste the oil used to fry it). The caponata that came with it was perfectly balanced and was perfect with the saffron rice cake.
3.Salmon Tacos: a must. Salmon tasted amazing, the condiment was on point. Simply perfect.
4.Black tea glazed spare ribs: this was described by Scott as the signature dish. Amazing. The meat would fall off the bone effortlessly and the glaze wasn’t overpowering the taste of the meat. Mix it with the spicy ginger ice cream, it’s just meant to be.
5.Wagyu beef tartare: amazing in the flavor, should be a top pick if you love raw meat. The cilantro on top really gave that extra flavor to balance the dish.
Ceviche: can’t remember the name of the fish but can definitely remember the taste. Fresh, balanced, on the fruity side. Perfect summer dish.
7.Goat cheese panna cotta: not too sweet not too savory, comes with phyllo, figs and walnuts.
Overall we rated it a 9/10 but only because we have to try the other plates. The dishes were served at the right pace. Is it worth the price? Absolutely. If you want to give it a try, do an aperitivo. Get yourself a glass of wine, a plate each and I’m sure...
