This is a cute little cafe where locals visit and visitors love to grab a coffee before heading back out. It's quiet inside except for the sounds of coffee machines and a newspaper rattling. It's clean and really inviting as well. The employees are kind and help with any questions or if you're needing suggestions on what to get. It's pretty nice outside as well. I wish the parking was easier but this isn't their problem. It's just a warning to visitors. It can get a little tight but you can always park across Mercer. They close early too which is maybe only a problem for some. At times, I need to get away and need a place in the evening where it's quiet and I can read a book besides sitting in my car. I'm happy to know the employees take off early though. Good for them.
EDIT: I’ve been back only a few more times since I made my review. The same thing kept happening. If you ask them for suggestions, it’s constantly, “Um... I mean, I can make your coffee with coconut milk or something. I don’t know what you want”. Hardly any eye contact. I asked if I could have an iced mocha latte with coconut milk if they had it. I asked if they had anything unique they enjoy making too, hoping there was something neat or different like rose or tiramisu flavors. Nope. They rushed me and then made a terrible cup of coffee. It was no different than asking my 8 year old to make me one and see what would happen. My friend asked for a hot cocoa. It was the strangest tasting hot cocoa I’ve ever tasted. It looked like chocolate but tasted as if the milk was over heated or bad. They were in a rush and weren’t that friendly when we were in line so we got turned off asking for a new cup. It’s not much different than Starbucks. Your order tastes weird, no eye contact, and the...
Read moreLong story short: If you want a hand poured cappuccino? This is not the spot. More of frothy gas station automatic machine product. Husband didn’t have the heart for a confrontation so he just threw it away.
We used to be extremely frequent customers here between 2016-2021 but service, quality and craftsmanship have severely tanked. We thought it was because the old owner was losing steam, but sadly the coffee quality has only gotten worse under the new owner, even though some of the staff are the same. The red flag is always when I ask for a cappuccino and the server asks me, “What size would you like.” Its fine if you just want to be a bakery with drip coffee and tea, but if you are going to have an espresso machine and customers come expecting something they can’t produce with their own espresso machines at home…then please train the staff on the art of coffee. We used to get hand poured cappuccinos here and they were delicious and beautiful. Now we get a product we could have gotten out of a gas station automatic machine. Just sad to no longer able to count on our favorite spot. The cashier even admitted they don’t educate the customers they just bend to whatever the general public believes….even when it means serving them a 16oz...
Read moreStopped by on a Sunday afternoon for a pick-me-up. It was pretty busy, a few people in the coffee and bathroom line. There was a good selection of drinks and food items to choose from and still a few tables open. There were two younger ladies taking orders, one of which skipped me, and when she realized, just muttered to the other girl, “oh, I skipped her.” The girl who took my order didn’t exchange any “hello” or “how can I help you.” So I started my order and she asked for my name. When ordering my second drink, she said, “What’s you’re name? I forgot for some reason.” And then gave me my total. None of the employees seemed to be smiling or happy to be there. I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt that maybe they were all just overwhelmed/busy and I caught them at a bad moment. The morning glory muffin and berry turnover we got were delicious as well as the cold brew. I really wanted to love Mazama! I will give it one more try and hope to have a better/more friendly...
