My favorite restaurant in the hill country near Austin! Located in Dripping Srings, TX! It is so good and everything is freshly made. Things sell out earlier so make sure you come ealry!! They have indoor and plenty of outdoor seating!! #centraltexas #drippingsprings #lunch #breakfast #viral #texas #texashillcountry #supportlocal #hiddengems #tiktokeats #foodtok #tiktokfoodie #eatlocal #CapCut

This is one of those quaint, small town/hill country places good for breakfast or lunch. Positive vibes, good food, and fair prices. It looks like it used to be a house, but it has been converted nicely to a restaurant. There's seating inside, and outside, for those awesome days of spring. They serve wine, as well as beer. It's walk-up counter style ordering, then they give you a number to hang on your table and they hunt you down and bring your order to you. There was a line of 6 or 7 people in front of me on a recent Saturday afternoon, but it moved quickly - no complaints at all. They bake all their bread in house, and there are several varieties to choose from. I had the Happy Gardener Sandwich with grilled zucchini, onion, bell pepper, and garlic. Slathered in a tasty spread of homemade mayo (you can request vegan mayo if you like), pesto, tomato, lettuce, and mozzarella cheese (I held the cheese - well, just because...). I had it on "light wheat" bread and chose to have it toasted. The sandwich was VERY good and well worth the $7 asking price. It's a bit messy though, because all the veggies are grilled, and they slide out while you are eating it. The bread was really to die for though. Make sure you get it toasted it you go. My lunch partner ordered the Chicken Tango Sandwich with the same toasted "light wheat" bread that I had for my sammich. It was a unique twist on the normal chicken salad. It included tasty mangoes, apples, pecans, cilantro, Dijon mustard, the same homemade mayo I had on my sammy, and lettuce and tomato. This jewel only set me back $8. Although, we didn't partake, they also have quite a few baked good options - cookies, etc. Parking can be a bit tough on weekends though. That's the ONLY ding I could get on them (so it's really 4.75 stars, not just 4). Other than that, this place is awesome to visit when cruising through the hill country. Love it!!!

I truly try not to give small businesses one stars. Especially as a small business owner myself. But a hard line is drawn when it comes to germs & health.

There was some chocolate cake that looked amazing. We added the cake to our order. When we received it was ICE COLD. I know it was ice cold because I touched it. I asked the young lady if she could warm it up just a bit. She explained it would melt the icing. I mentioned I don’t want a cold slice of cake. That it literally could be nuked to take the chill off. She mentioned it would melt again. So I up there said I didn’t want it. This is the part that I’m completely set back by. She put the slice of cake that she gave me. That she saw I breathed on and TOUCHED! Back for someone else.

I told her, “I touched But the look the young lady that rung me up gave me after I told her I touched it was clearly showing she didn’t care. This is so disgusting and unsanitary. Don’t put food out for others to consume after someone has touched it. Why would you do this!?

Updated for RTD since you have time to lie:

The situation was not false. I did ask for a slice of cake and when I touched it was SUPER cold. So cold that I could not enjoy it. Your “sweet lady” did not make any suggestion to leave it out for 5-10 mins “ them warm up for optimal enjoyment” . All she kept saying is that it will melt.

Once I handed the cake to her she set it right back where she picked it up front. WHICH IS WHY I SAID. “Are you going to put that back out I touched it. I had to say this 3 times a little loud at one point when some lady with grey/purple Bob took the cake down. So don’t lie saying you “simply turned around and handed it to another employee who placed it on the counter behind her, as we were very busy at the time.” And that’s fine that the The back counter is not a display counter and, we cannot add photos or videos to this comment. I saw that your “sweet lady” put the cake back out on the display. Now whether you moved it after I had to ask you THREE times if you were putting that out after I touched the ice cold cake good job, finally. In the future RTD don’t put food back out that customers have touched. That’s terrible & VERY unclean.

CHEERS

All this responding in defensive, hostile & dishonest manner instead of saying you messed up-makes me wonder if you’ll even wash...

I can’t think of a time I’ve been treated so rudely by the wait staff as I was treated at Thyme & Dough.

First of all, I arrived at 3:45 but the cashier did not inform me they were closing at 4:00. 🙄

I ordered and the waitress informed me of everything they were out of. Okay. No worries. I chose, I ordered and paid. Left a tip, too.😊

I ordered a glass of wine with my meal and asked for water but was informed later that I was suppose to get my own water. Okay. That’s cool.😎

Got my salad at about 4:00 but 10 minutes later I noticed a lot of sweeping, banging of dishes and singing of the wait staff. Great. Nice voices.👍

However, I thought , well maybe I better order another glass of wine to finish my salad off, (thinking they closed at 5:00). Ha! 😳🤪 Was I ever wrong! 🤪

They were trying to get rid of me like a HOT POTATO!

I went to the cashier to order another glass of wine. I asked the brunette gal for the 2nd glass of wine, and waited. And waited. (I watched as another gal was trying to open the bottle to pour my wine. Bless her 💜) Finally, the tall, blonde gal in a burgundy top, ( with her blonde hair pulled up in a bun, doing all the singing🎼🎤), told me they were closed! And she could not sell me a 2nd glass of wine! Gee. 😳 I still had most of my salad to eat. What?!? No one informed me before. I would not have ordered if I knew I was showing up late. I would have gone somewhere else. None the less, the unprofessional and rude treatment by this gal will not be forgotten. I will never spend my 💰 there again.

Moral of story: If a customer comes up to the cashier 10 minutes before closing then ‘ go with it!’ Be nice. Be thankful. Otherwise, close your doors at 3:45.

In the meantime, if a customer has just started eating but now you are closed then keep your mouth shut and be respectful and cordial. It’s just a salad. She’s not going to be there much longer BUT the customer is also NOT going to scarf her food down because you are an immature little spoiled brat either. 😤

Thank you. I had my say. 😊

So long Thyme & ‘whatever.’ Your food was okay but NOT great enough to be pushed out of your restaurant before I barely had a chance to eat. ...
