November 2023:
I ordered the Smoked Bone-In Ham for Thanksgiving Day and since we was there to pick it up decided to order and enjoy a nice lunch. I had planned ordering turkey (for thanksgiving) but their Tuesday special was Fried Chicken with Mashed Potatoes. I could not resist and ordered it. The staff was super nice and friendly.
The plate consisted of two pieces of chicken, mashed potatoes, biscuit, side of raspberry sauce, and side of gravy. The chicken was soft on the inside with a superbly tasting crust on the outside. It had great flavor. The biscuit was just as good with a honey glaze on it and the potatoes were perfect.
Next time will get the turkey.
December 2022:
1 Meat with 2 Sides Plate
I returned to the Switch and ordered a 1 Meat with 2 sides plate. My selections were Turkey, Mac & Cheese, and Potato Salad. The place still maintained the Texas style BBQ atmosphere and great service. The turkey was so tasty and nice big slices. I have had this before and really enjoyed it. This place is a great hangout and have a beer too.

Oak Smoked Fried Chicken Wings
There are a lot of excellent BBQ places in and around Austin and this one is one of them. The Switch is close to my home so my wife and I regularly dine in or take out here. Depending on which day you arrive will affect on how you order where sometimes you are quickly seated at the table or walk up and order you meal. Sometimes we sit at the bar or in a booth.
I ordered the 1/2 dozen Oak Smoked Fried Chicken Wings and side of Potato Salad. They are one of the best chicken wings out there. They had a wonderful bbq flavored taste to them and enjoy eating them. The BBQ here has its own distinct flavor from other places. The bar has a nice selection of local craft brew and other choice of drinks. The atmosphere was great and the staff is very friendly. And as you leave you can walk by the smokers to see the engine of this place.
Smoked Turkey BLT
Another trip to my most visited BBQ place this year where I ordered the Smoked Turkey BLT. I tried a new item off the menu to change things up. I sat in a booth this time where first had to order my food. My order was delivered to my table.
The BLT looked pretty big from my vantage point where it was cut in half and stacked on one another with a side of fries. The Turkey was big slices along with tasty crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, avocado mash, and mayo kept together with buttery Texas toast It was just a very good sandwich and filled me up for the day and beyond. Not sure if the turkey made me sleepy later in the day but next time skip breakfast before...
Read moreFirst of all, my wife and I really like their food and think they make some great BBQ. We moved close to the Dripping Springs location and were excited to order dinner for her office holiday party which we hosted. Good bbq and support a local business, what could go wrong.. right? Well the food was supposed to be delivered and we had paid and also signed a contract which their Event Manager had sent (by someone in my Wife's office). She also confirmed with the event manager (who was located in the Lamar location) that the order was for the dripping springs location and was reassured that everything would be taken care of and food delivered.. come 6pm when the food was supposed to arrive - nothing... my wife spent 15 min repeated calling the Dripping Springs location with no one answering the phone.. at this point we have a house full of hungry guests and I had to drive to the location in person to get the food... only to arrive and find they had no record of the order!?! Luckly, i had a printout of the order, the manager on duty took a look at it, said she had to figure out what happened..went back and 5 min later they started to prepare the food.. she came out apologized and said they had no record of the order and did not know what happened... She left me waiting and she did not offer me a cup of water or a drink or anything while I waited... It took them a good 30min to get the food ready.. the managers lips said - "Sorry", but it was clear she could care less.. then after the 30min wait, I was offered bags of food and asked to sign a receipt for delivery of the food... I pointed out to them they were charging us for delivery when I had to come pick up the food.. she first said in a rude tone, they were not charging me for delivery... I had to point it out in the receipt again that they had.. at which point she said " She cant do anything about it, and she will have to contact the event manager about it".. she kept the print out and said she would follow-up.. I had to carry the bags of food out myself to the car, which they did not offer to help with.. and it was unreasonable for me to expect any kind of service or common curtesy from them by then... Since this, my wife and the lady who coordinated the catering, have emailed them and contacted the event manager and they have not received any response... If I could give this place 0 stars, i would... The saving grace in all this were the kitchen staff that worked so fast to get the food...
Read moreWe’ve been to The Switch more times than we can count over the past couple of years, and honestly I’m embarrassed we haven’t left a review until now!
Most often you’ll find us here on Sundays for their AYCE Brunch Buffet — which is hands down one of the BEST brunch values around. Price usually runs $35–$45 depending on if it’s a holiday, and it’s worth every penny. They always have two smoked meats on the chopping block that rotate every couple of weeks (pro tip: check their website ahead of time to see what’s carving that week along with their rotating entrees and sides).
Some of our PERSONAL brunch MVPs: -The mini biscuits (flaky, golden perfection) — do yourself a favor and add the strawberry jam. -Cucumber salad & Cobb salad for a refreshing bite. -Fried chicken that’s always crispy and juicy. -Brisket or pork belly Benedict on their bomb ass biscuits (rich, smoky, and so indulgent), we legit eat 2-3 every time!) -Stuffed French toast (brunch dreams come true and always rotating). -Ribs, tri tip, pork tenderloin, and honestly whatever smoked meats are on rotation. -Mini chocolate cakes to finish strong!
Bonus: you can also order pancakes and scrambled eggs on the side if you’re craving the classics, OR just skip the buffet and order off the regular menu. Either way, the food has always been fresh, hot, and super satisfying.
Outside of brunch, we’ve also had plenty of lunches and dinners here and the hits just keep coming. The food feels like a Southern Louisiana–meets–Tex-Mex fusion and it works beautifully. Favorites include the fried catfish (Wow oh wow, also a MUST!), Tri Tip French dip (A MUST and one of THE BEST We've ever had!) , smoked chicken wings, cowboy ribeye, and their BBQ platters. Truly, you can’t go wrong with anything on this menu! Plus they have weekly rotating specials as well, which you can also find on their website!
Service? Always on point. Friendly, attentive, and welcoming whether you’re posted up inside or enjoying the patio outdoors.
All in all — The Switch is one of those spots we’ll keep coming back to again and again! They are a MUST visit when you're here and hands down make the 30-45 min drive EVERY TIME, because they are THAT good and WORTH IT!
Incredible food, great service, and a brunch buffet that’s worth every calorie and then some! Whether you decide to become a regular or make a trip JUST to visit them while you're in town you won't be...
