Poor Service, Even Worse Management!!
It is unfortunate to have to leave reviews such as this. I don't believe any family goes out to dinner with a desire to leave a negative review of a company. Just the opposite, a family wants to have great service and a great meal so they can tell their friends about the place. Unfortunately, this is not one of those good reviews...
On Saturday 25 Nov. 2023, our family arrived at the Captain D's (CD's) in Dublin, Ga. around 5pm. There was 5 of us and we were looking forward to a good CD's meal. Part of our family lives in the area and the rest were visiting from out of town. Whenever we are in town we make a family thing to visit CD's from time to time and our family in the area has been going there for years.
We place our order (two 10 piece fish - one regular and one country style, baked potatoes, fries, corn, hush puppies, crackling, and a gallon of sweet tea), the manager was on the cook line and we heard him put the order in (telling the cook to drop the fish), and the person taking our order handed us a gallon of tea. It seemed good so far.
We got to table and found out that the gallon of tea was unsweet. No worries...we'll go back to the counter and get a gallon of sweet. We went back to the counter and said we order sweet tea and got unsweet. The young lady said, "we're out, I have to make some." After a few minutes, we sent our son to the counter to check on the tea (1). She told him she hadn't made it yet. After waiting for some time (approx. 7+ mins.), I went to the counter and asked about the tea (2). She told me, "I have to make it." At this time we realized it would take a while so everyone just go some sweet tea from the tea in the dining area. I went back to the counter and asked again (3). She said, I haven't made it yet.
By this time we had been waiting for our food for approx. 12-15 mins, and after 15+ mins. the food started coming out. The country fish, baked potatoes, and corn came first. The potatoes were cold, so one of our family members asked for fries instead and asked about the tea (4). The young lady said she would bring it, when it is made. A few minutes later the fries came out that replaced the potatoes, but nothing else. After waiting approx. 5-7 mins, the regular fish came out. One of our family went back to the counter to inquire about the tea (5), and the young lady said she hadn't made it yet and would bring it when she made it. When we looked at the regular fish we realized that much of it was overcooked and the fries that came with the meal never came out as well. We had inquired enough and did not want to keep going back to the counter. We just settled for the overcooked fish and being shorted an order of fries, while waiting on our tea.
During our wait time, we noticed other customers having to inquire about their food multiple times as well. We proceeded to eat our food, the tea and the fries never came out.
When we asked to speak to the manager, he yelled to the employee, "They're just gonna have to wait!" It went downhill from there.
After 15+ mins. of wait we had a very unpleasant conversation with the manager who was disrespect and called us liars. He never apologized and we had to ask what he was going to do to make this right.
We finally got our tea and food after an unnecessary conversation with the manager, who needs customer service training, along with the staff. This location has multiple issues, this is just a symptom of larger issues.
Our family will not be returning to this CD's until management is changed, staff properly trained and the location upgraded some (bathrooms are always smelling like stale mildew).
Sorry to leave a review like this, but it's time that someone brought this to corporates attention. We will be...
Read moreI've been eating at Capt D's for 30+ years since I came to Dublin and always enjoyed it. Things have changed for the worse. Drive through and inside counter service are poor. Lots of young staff who don't seem to care whether they wait on you or not. On a recent visit, stood at the counter about 5 minutes before a young female would quit playing on her phone and come see what I wanted. They weren't real busy and she had looked up and seen me there 2-3 times. Sanitation is poor there now. I ate there twice in the past month or so and had a hair in my food on both occasions. The first time it was a take-out order and a long hair under my fish tenders. The second time it was a small kinked or curled hair in my coleslaw. No one at the counter or in the kitchen wears any head covering of hair nets, caps, etc. or vinyl gloves. So, beyond the hairs, who knows what sort of booger picking, butt and head scratching those hands have done while preparing or handling your food. I have told several friends twice is enough for me so, after 30+ years I...
Read morePieces of fish were wider than usual, but short. They tasted good. I love that this Capt D's keeps their condiment bar clean and stocked. I love jalapenos with my hushpuppies. Their pickles are great and I enjoy eating a slice with a bite of fish. They have lemons for your water or tea too. I'd of given a 5 if sides were bigger portions. I had about ten fries and six pieces of broccoli. Not enough IMO. All workers were in neat and clean attire. Most spoke and were kind. They asked if they could help us or if we needed anything else. Dublin store is our favorite. Restroom was clean too; although toilet is too close to the wall. Why do they put toilets so close to wall and put huge toilet roll holder in your way. Guys must design, 'cause females know you need room to spread knees to...
