My husband, toddler daughter and I dined in on a Thursday evening for the first time ever. It was fairly busy, especially for a weeknight. There is a hostess at the front upon entrance for seating assignments. We were seated near a large curtained room by a window where we can see other patrons gathered as a group for what seemed like a small event of some sort.
Ambiance was nice, lighting fits the Spanish Mission style structure of the building, with sort of a burnt orange clay colored walls, wasn’t dim or too bright. The seating arrangements were packed throughout the restaurant but they’ve made a fair use of space with just enough room for people to get by. The restrooms, however were limited, much so that the only women’s and men’s restroom seemed solitary as I wanted to wash my hands in the women’s restroom but it wasn’t vacant. Never had the chance to wash my hands before leaving the restaurant. There are restrooms designated for men and women separate for family and baby diaper changing and both were locked, needing a key for use. I didn’t grab my phone to take pictures unfortunately.
Food wasn’t too bad. The chips and salsa were refillable. The salsa for some reason tastes like the salsa of a grocery store shelf like Pace salsa. Chips were warm but a bit hard to the bite. Meats were rather bland sadly. My husband ordered the super burrito, carnitas. He also mentioned that the carnitas were bland. My daughter had the chicken quesadilla but she had hardly touched her food. I had the street tacos with half carne asada and half shredded chicken. One of the carne asada taco was slightly tough and over-cooked. Again sad to say, the meats were bland ☹️. I also ordered the virgin pina colada, which was delicious.
Overall for the price, the food wasn’t too bad. I just wish the meats had more taste and seasoned generously. I would rate Casa Orozco Dublin location a 3.5...
Read moreI've been coming here since I was a kid, so...several decades 😅 I always wanted to go when visiting the area after I moved away, and now that I'm local my husband and I get takeout often.
I have mostly only had various versions of one thing: the enchiladas. If I could eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be Casa Orozco enchiladas. They're my ultimate comfort food and they're just delicious. I recommend them all! But I specifically love them with verde sauce (just ask, they can put it on any of them!).
My specific favorite order is 2 enchiladas a la carte with shredded beef and the verde sauce. The shredded beef is almost like a slow cooked pot roast; it's tender and juicy and tastes so good with the corn tortilla and cheese, and if you like the flavor profile of slightly tart things to accentuate the salty, the verde sauce takes it to the next level. They're very filling and I really only eat one, but I get two for the amazing leftovers to look forward to for lunch the next day!
The chips are always fresh, the salsas are even fresher (I've been known to sneakily just sip it like a gazpacho if no one is sharing 😆), and the guacamole is perfect.
This is a great place for a lunch with friends, a small family get together, an intimate dinner, or takeout(our go-to since the pandemic began). Some of the old-time waiters remember me and seem happy to see me, which is always nice. The prices have gone up over the years, as they have for everything, but I find them to be fair for the quality of food they serve. Go and try my favorite order!
UPDATE, MONTHS LATER: I went again with a big family group last night. I felt bad because we had so many disparate needs and side requests and really put our waiter, Jesus, through his paces. He was so on top of everything and was so kind. He...
Read moreThere were 8 of us. This place is very dark, outdated, outdoor dining is dusty, tables & chairs are old rusted iron chairs w/no cushion & the tables are plastic top old & dirty. Waited about 20-25 mins just to order drinks. Then about 20 mins for drinks to come. Ordered food immediately after drinks. Food was fast to come out. Sounds great right. It wasn't. Chicken enchiladas, chicken inside was COLD while outer mole & tortilla was warm. Rice & benas we're ok. Steak fajitas wasn't steak. It was thick cut, rough & tough to eat, shoulder. Chile rellenos we're extremely soggy, not freshly made to order. Couldn't even eat them. Kids steak tacos had a taco bell like shell & tough to eat shoulder. Definitely wasn't asada as they said. Our watermelon fresca tequila drinks we ordered were grapefruit instead. Gross when you don't like grapefruit. And then we order kid drinks that never came but they sure charged us for them. After eating we waited about a half hour for the check before we started walking towards the front door. We could've walked right out, no one even cared or didn't pay attention. Horrible service by Marisa. Over worked or whatever, whole experience was lame & definitely won't ever eat there again. Crazy to think that the Orozco in Livermore is related. Big difference for sure. Livermore location is WAY better. So we had an almost $300 dinner that sucked in Dublin location where there were so many raves. Yuck! Don't...
