Heard about this place a few times so decided to take wifey here. Got here around 5:20pm on a week night so it was still empty. Of course we had to order its signature Hainan chicken - we had it with a rice plate. My wife gave her stamp of approval on their Hainan chicken and that’s saying a lot because that’s the first one that she approved locally. The rice was pretty flavorful too. The side of sliced cucumber, quail egg and wood ear did not have much flavor, but that’s okay. Oh, the rice plate did come with a bowl of soup, but it did not have much flavor and I sort of forgot about it. I especially love it when I had a spoonful of rice, some peanuts and a small piece of chicken with the spring onion sauce all in one bite. That was heavenly.
Wifey strategized that we should have a rice plate and a noodle dish. Since this was the first time, we ordered their Special Laksa Fish Noodle Soup. The fish noodle was quite different and I was not used to eating that. Think I would have preferred ramen noodle instead, but maybe next time. The laksa broth had a lot of flavor and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The shrimp were nice and plump. We also had two appetizers: pork intestines and beef brisket & tendon. Both were not bad, but not outstanding. Their portions were bigger than most places though.
Would come back again for their Hainan chicken and maybe try some other items like their Chiu Chow marinated duck, fried chicken and...
Read moreWe went there to try their signature Hainan Chicken because of the raved reviews but it was a big disappointment especially the chicken and the rice. The chicken was extremely chewy and tough and the Hainan chicken rice was dry and tasteless. It's totally not comparable to the Hainan chicken you get in Singapore, not even close. Other than the unique Hainan taste, the Hainan chicken needs to be very tender and the rice needs to be soft and moist full of Hainan aroma and taste. There's nothing authentic about Yummy's signature Hainan Chicken except the color. This place has potential to offer better food but they have a long way to go. They must excel in their signature dish, the Hainan Chicken. To do that they must use better quality chicken and improve on the Hainan rice. Don't waste your time going there now if you are expecting authentic Hainan chicken. (My original review said I recommended Yummy's signature Hainan chicken. That was an error. I do NOT recommend Yummy's signature Hainan...

Anyway, I got the chicken with noodles and the tofu, wood ear mushroom, and cucumber appetizer. The appetizer was really refreshing and citrusy. The entree was really good. The noodles and veggies were served in their own bowl and the chicken and peanuts were served on the side with its green onion/ginger/garlic garnish. You’re able to add your own sauces to your soup. The sriracha and other sauces were off to the side but the chili oil was at the table. Putting everything together was its own unique experience. I enjoyed the different flavors and my overall dine-in experience.
The restaurant was pretty clean and quiet. You can be seated for dine-in or order at the front. Staff was helpful and shared the most popular items.
They have a restroom available...
