Disappointing Membership Sign-Up Experience.
I recently visited this gym with the intention of signing up for a membership. I must commend manager Austin on the excellent condition of the facility; it's clear the gym is well-maintained. However, the sign-up process was so unprofessional and misleading that I ultimately chose to walk away and not join.
My decision was based on two serious issues with the staff member, Jack:
Misleading Information on Membership Fees Jack presented the premium plan as a fantastic deal: "$12.50 for 3 months with a $1 enrollment fee." He also assured me I could cancel or downgrade after three months at no cost. However, upon reviewing the documents, I discovered this was false. The contract included a $50 enrollment fee due in the second month, which would be non-refundable if I canceled after the initial period. This felt like a deliberate attempt to trap me into a plan under false pretenses.
Questionable Payment Policy Before I had even signed the agreement, Jack demanded both my bank account (ACH) and credit card information, claiming it was mandatory policy. This practice is unusual and highly concerning from a security standpoint. It felt like a scam. I had to call Austin to rectify this, and he agreed to accept only my credit card information. The need to repeatedly question Jack and seek clarification from Austin to correct his misleading statements was an incredibly frustrating and undesirable experience.
For the gym's management, I have a few questions:
To the Owner: Why is it your policy to collect both a customer's bank account and credit card information before a contract is even signed? This raises significant security concerns and is not standard practice for most businesses.
To Austin: Can you confirm if Jack's inaccurate statements about the membership fees and dual payment policy are due to a lack of training or a deliberate attempt to mislead prospective members?
Because of these issues, I did not feel confident moving forward with a membership. While the facility itself is impressive, the unprofessional and dishonest nature of the sign-up process was a complete...
Read moreI’ve been a member at this gym for about 3 months and signed up under one of their membership deals back in August. I canceled my membership on July 27th, and when I attempted to go back to the gym recently, I realized I was no longer logged into their app (which is used to scan in).
I tried to reset my password but never received an email, so I called the gym to figure out what was going on. I was told I was no longer a member and that in order to rejoin, I would need to pay the $50 annual fee again despite the fact that I had already paid it just a few months ago. That policy makes no sense and was never clearly communicated to me.
What made the experience worse was the customer service. I waited over 2 hours for a manager to call me back, only to be ignored. I called again and spoke to an employee named Joseph, who was condescending and uncertain about the gym's own policies. Despite repeatedly asking to speak to a manager, I was told he was too busy signing up new memberships as if my issue wasn’t important enough to be addressed.
Overall, the gym itself is fine, but the lack of communication, poor customer service, and unclear policies make it not worth the trouble. I would recommend looking elsewhere if you want to be treated with basic respect and...
