This is one of the few reviews I give where I have great pride in giving it.
Kim Chi and her husband Elvis are the owners of the V Caffè located in the VFW in the town of Dubois, Wyoming.
This seemingly unassuming hidden gem in Wyoming will surprise you in more ways than one. The first day I walked in, I was greeted by Kim's warm smile and a warm welcome. I took a look at the menu with its many flavorful options and ordered the garlic noodles with lemongrass pork. She rang me up and said, "Thank you, Jon, I'll have that right out to you," a simple but important statement, which I'll address shortly.
Since the V Caffè is located in the same building as the VFW, I sat at the bar and grabbed a Pepsi from another amazing resident of Duboi, Alda. Alda is from Belgium and has made dubois her home after immigrating to the US. If you have the pleasure of meeting her, you will be greeted with a big warm smile and a wonderful personality. She is truly a sweetheart.
After only a few minutes of introductions with her, Kim brought my order out to me. I was greeted with a piping hot freshly made plate that not only looked and smelled amazing but was even more delicious than I had anticipated. Needless to say, it was quickly inhaled with nothing but a clean plate left behind.
It was clear after one simple plate I would be returning for more.
In my life, I have been blessed with the opportunity to travel for various jobs. In doing so, there are two things I always seek out in my travels... good food and good people. In my just about 60 days I've spent in Dubois, I would say a good 40+ have been spent at the V Caffè and VFW.
Why? Well, getting back to the first time I met Kim and she thanked me by name for my order, without asking it, I knew something was going to be different. She took the time not only to get to know me but also to know everyone who comes in. With around 500 people extra in town for the fire that was going on, this was no easy task and made it feel very personal and special. I tried almost the entire menu and all the specials while I was there and was always amazed by everything.
The combination of Kim's passion for food and people is hard to find and was such a treat in a small town.
If you decide to dine here, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Tell Kim Jon Brown sent you and see her light...

Read moreThis is exceptional Vietnamese cuisine in a VFW. First - this is not your average Vietnamese food...which we love...but the chef pours culinary talent, along with love, into the food. Second - it's in a VFW. Not at all what you expect....but there is a wonderful story behind his...you need to ask about it. It will make you appreciate what is happening even more. Third - it happened to be the Chefs birthday when we were in. We saw several members of the community bringing in cards, cakes, and sharing hugs with the chef. You can tell she is an important part of the community - and feeds them with wonderful food - but perhaps something even more deep and significant.
Check it out for yourself. Ask about the story of the restaurant and say hi to the Chef and staff. You will have wonderful food, but you will observe something much more important and significant happening in...
