Lina's Lounge — Restaurant in Dubuque

DO NOT EAT HERE You will get sick. We went here on several suggestions on how fun and good the food was here. My husband and I arrived to a semi empty bar, not very busy at the time. We ordered drinks, wings, and my husband ordered a hamburger from the bar because they do not have any servers for the tables. After waiting 40 min we received our wings. We were hungry so we started eating thinking they would be arriving with my husbands burger shortly, I mean it had been 40 min already for wings. Unfortunately we never received the burger and when my husband went to pay they looked very angry that he requested to take it off the bill as he didn't receive it. Mind you this was about hour after he had order it, they actually asked him shocked that he didn't want it. We left thinking it was very strange on how they acted. Later that evening I started to not feel well and asked my husband how he was feeling. He also felt uneasy. I was talking to him about how I was feeling when I had to run for the bathroom to vomit. Mind you I only had the wings for dinner that night and that is all that my body got rid of. Next my husband started to get sick. My husband having worked in the industry promptly contacted Lina Lounge through their face book as it was after hours to inform them that we had gotten sick from the wings and the owner Lina became very combative with us, so much so that she was requesting us to prove it with a doctor that is was food poisoning. My husband decided to go to urgent care and get proof, when he asked for her insurance information to send the doctor note to, she became even more combative but did give a refund. The messages from the owner did not have any compassion she was actually defending her position so much so that she said that we could call the police to have a report done. She also advised through her employee to my husband that we were no longer welcome back to her establishment. So we get food poisoning and then we get 86'd. Interesting customer service. After this we informed our friends that suggested this place what happened. They said they had gotten sick before as well and now only get drinks when they go in. Please don't eat here, they reheat their food they do not even make it fresh (this was told to us through the interaction with the owner), majority of the bartenders don't eat the food there because they have gotten sick. I stay in Dubuque for business and this place is right down the street from my hotel. I’ve been wanting to go here for dinner and finally made it there this week. Very nice inside and out. Great outdoor patio. Bar inside is huge. When you walk in you are really not sure what to do since there really aren’t any waiters walking around. I went to the bar and the bartender told me I order my food from the bar and then they can bring it to me since I wanted to sit outside. I ordered and paid for my food and then went outside on the patio to wait for my food. I ordered the boneless chicken wings. They do have several choices for sauces that they toss them in before serving. The bar and surrounding tables seemed pretty full for about 6:30pm. Outdoor patio only had a few people out there. Food took longer than expected and I finally had to go back into the bar to see what was going on. They were just bringing it to me when I went in to investigate my order. The boneless wings were not anything really special. They looked like something you could buy from the grocery store. They were breaded and then tossed in the sauces you choose. I had BBQ, Buffalo and Sweet Chili sauces for my boneless wings. They all tasted great. I believe this place works better as a bar than a restaurant because their menu is not very big. Mostly bar food. I think I would’ve enjoyed myself more here if I was just coming to drink and not eat. As a bar, it seems like a pretty awesome place. They were doing Trivia Night as I was leaving. Lots of space with a variety of activities to do. However, two things really ruined the whole thing for me. My girlfriend and I ordered from their restaurant that’s just down the sidewalk and we ordered sushi. I ordered three different rolls. I could not tell AT ALL what the difference was between any of them. The rolls that were fried were fried beyond being edible. It was horrible. On top of this, they had someone walk the food from the restaurant to the bar and I watched them unload our food onto the counter the bartenders have behind the bar and neither one of the bartenders brought it over. Didn’t even let us know it was there. We didn’t even know it was ours until we got tired of waiting and decided to close our tab-which was when we found it was our food.
