Stuff Etc — Local services in Dubuque

I absolutely love this store. I go at least one a week and I love that every time I go I find something new. There is a very large variety of items there. This evening I had the wrist experience ever. The manager Mandy followed me around the store and a very disrespectful manner. I felt that she thought I was trying to shoplift so I went and put my purse away in the car and only brought in my money. I had many items to purchase this evening and Mandy stood at least 6 ft away from me the entire time watching me while making personal phone calls to her family members the entire time. I was trying to pick out items for my bathroom and every time I looked over she was staring at me so it made me uncomfortable and I didn't purchase any of the things I wanted. when she got paged to the front of the store she had other employees follow me around so closely it was embarrassing. I had a friend that was coming to meet me to shop and when he got there I went outside and ask them not to come in and told him I was leaving because I was embarrassed and I didn't want him to see her doing this to me. The store lost out on at least $200 worth of sales this evening. Many times I wanted to stop and ask her what her issue was or if there is anything I can help her with and I was afraid that she would abuse her store power and try to you get me kicked out. I felt harassed embarrassed and self conscious the entire time. I really regret not recording this on my cell phone. In the future I will never workshop there alone again because it made me very uncomfortable. I...

This place is a complete waste of time. Today was my third trip to the store, and I haven't ever actually gotten to consign anything. Each time the wait time for drop off of items is longer than 1 hour. I thought maybe the first couple were a fluke, but it seems this is common practice for them. They could take some tips from some of the other consignment stores in town to make this process far more efficient. On my first trip, I did browse the store for 40 minutes thinking there was no way it would actually take the 1 hour wait time. In that amount of time, I easily made it around the whole store and it is largely filled with over priced junk. Seriously, an obviously used clutch wallet, NOT name brand priced at $30?! You could get a brand new one at Target for $15. I won't be buying or selling anything here when there are far better options in town, or you could drive an hour and consign in another town and still be quicker than waiting...

I like that you don’t have to make an appointment to drop off your items , and the staff has always been friendly in my experience. I do however think it could be a lot more organized. For the last two weeks I’ve tried to stop and pick up my Consignor balance. The problem is…they make you stand in the same line as everyone dropping off items to consign , so I waited in line for one hour , to do a three minute exchange of showing the cashier my ID and getting my Consignor balance. As a customer this was extremely irritating , and when I asked if I could go to the other register with the cashier who had no one in line, she told me that I had to wait in the Consignor line. In my opinion this business should either look into making a separate line for customers that just want to stop and pick up their balance or have an option where the customer can set up a direct deposit to their checking account.
