Los Aztecas — Restaurant in Dubuque

Poor Service! So disappointed in the service we had. We have ate at Los Aztecas on Dodge and had excellent food and outstanding service. However, they were full and so went to the one in Asbury. We won't be back.

We were seated in back in what I will call a "party room". There were 2 other tables there. We had our order taken and everything was going well. Waitstaff was pleasant and quick to bring drinks and we got our food very timely. However, after they brought the food no one ever came back to check on us or offer refills.

Unfortunately, one person in our party did not receive the correct dinner ordered. They waited for a few minutes but no one came so they ate the "salad" part and the rice. They ordered chicken chimichangas and were given ground beef. They tried a couple of bites of one but didn't like it and proceeded to cut open the other hoping it was chicken. However, it was not.

The wait staff FINALLY came out after everyone was done. We were never offered drink refills. We were not asked if everything was tasting ok. It was just to bring the bill. I brought it to the waitstaff's attention that the person at our table had received the wrong meal. I asked if they were going to comp the meal. After speaking to her manager, they deducted $3 from the meal because she ate it. (She ate the rice and lettuce they put on the side.)

While I understand that it is not up to the discretion of the wait staff to comp a meal or make the decision on how much can be deducted from the meal, it does rely solely on the wait staff. They never came to check on us. Therefore, I will only give this place a one star for service.

Food varied from each meal. The steak for the fajitas were burnt. The shrimp for fajitas were excellent. The rice and refried beans are amazing. Their guacamole is excellent. Their mild salsa tasted like tomato paste. However they're spicier salsa was very flavorful with a perfect kick.

Overall, I will stand at the one star rating due to service. Service is everything when you go to a restaurant. The wait staff didn't put us as a priority and neither did...

8/11/21: Lunch hour

Was very disappointed in both customer service and the food. We asked for separate salsa bowls due to covid and were told at an additional charge...we were paying separate checks but the waitress said there would still be an additional charge...all other restaurants automatically bring you separate salsa bowls right now to keep the spread of covid down.

The waitress took forever to get back to us to take our order...at least 10 minutes and the food took forever to get to us. At a competitor...our food order is always to us within 5 minutes, no matter how busy they are.

When I questioned the waitress about the salsa she got really sarcastic, bossy and rude...said she would ask her manager...I asked her to send the manager to talk to us...we never saw a manager.

My co worker stated the Taco Salad was very bland. Other co worker had the soup...said it was ok...nothing great. I had the chicken salad...the queso was good...overall just ok.

We all work for a very large global company in Dubuque. We plan and arrange department lunches and Los Azteca has been taken off the restaurant listing for any future department luncheons.

Terrible customer service! Id give it 0 stars if possible. Asked for more chips from someone who was walking by, chips never came, our server never came back to check on us, missing items.. and when flagged someone down and asked for/ about missing items got told " doenst come with it" when its the only thing i ever order and have always gotten with my meal, ALWAYS gotten rice and beans with a 20$ platter of 3 enchiladas, even says on the menu woth rice and beans! Also argued with us about there being cheese on the tacos, when there was not, instead of just maybe bringing cheese.... The lady i was able to flag down (Lisbhet) was extremly rude. Instead of offering to fix the issues, she argued and walked away and walked by us multiple times untill we asked for the check in which i was not about to pay for my plate 20$ that i ate 1 enchilada off, and 3 tacos that were absolute garbage and not eaten.. she continues to argue... told her ill pay 2 kids meals, 1 enchilada, cheese dip and a soda what we actually ate. Never again, horridly rude staff, the ones you can...
